Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Design and build internal platforms, tooling, and workflows that accelerate software delivery for 200+ engineers at Lambda.
- • Own and evolve the CI/CD infrastructure by rethinking how it operates at scale, not just maintaining existing systems.
- • Develop and maintain paved paths — reusable templates and patterns that make optimal engineering practices the default choice.
- • Build release engineering tooling that gives engineers confidence, control, and visibility over how their code is shipped.
- • Identify bottlenecks in developer workflows through direct collaboration with engineering teams and create durable, scalable solutions instead of temporary workarounds.
- • Contribute to architectural decisions that shape how software and images are built and shipped across the organization.
- • Help define and refine the operating model of the Platform Engineering team, including processes, priorities, and the transition toward a self-service engineering culture.
- • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure systems you own remain reliable, observable, and well-documented.
- • Treat internal tooling as a product with real users, applying production-quality standards to code, testing, and adoption.
- • Build solutions that serve the needs of the entire engineering organization, not just one team or use case.
- • Distill core problems from noise by asking the "why" behind requests and focusing on root causes.
- • Measure and demonstrate the impact of shipped solutions on developer productivity, delivery velocity, and system reliability.
- • Work in the San Francisco/San Jose/Bellevue office four days per week, with Tuesday designated as the company-wide remote day.
- • Collaborate closely with engineering teams across Lambda to understand pain points and co-design solutions that improve the developer experience.
- • Contribute to the adoption of agentic workflows that automate meaningful portions of the software delivery lifecycle.
- • Apply infrastructure-as-code principles using Terraform to manage cloud environments at scale.
- • Work in AWS or GCP cloud environments to design scalable, secure, and observable platform systems.
- • Use Go and/or Python to write production-grade software for internal platforms and tools.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, release engineering, developer tooling, or a closely related discipline
- • Write production-quality software and treat internal tooling as a product with real users and quality standards (Go and/or Python preferred)
- • Deep experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Buildkite, GitHub Actions), including extending and building on top of them
- • Strong foundation in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and cloud environments (AWS or GCP)
- • Experience designing and building agentic workflows that automate parts of the software delivery lifecycle
- • Build for the many, not for one team or one use case; distill the right problem from noise and are outcome-driven
🏖️ Benefits
- • Generous cash & equity compensation
- • Health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents
- • Wellness and commuter stipends for select roles
- • 401k Plan with 2% company match (USA employees)
- • Flexible paid time off plan that employees actually use
