đź“‹ Description
- • Shape the future of global news distribution: As the Senior Quality Engineering Manager at Business Wire—a Berkshire Hathaway company—you will own the quality vision for the platform that 100,000+ organizations rely on to disseminate market-moving news and multimedia. Your leadership will directly influence how millions of readers, investors, and journalists experience timely, accurate information every day.
- • Lead and scale a world-class Quality Engineering organization. You will hire, mentor, and inspire a distributed team of Quality Engineers, SDETs, and automation architects, instilling a culture of craftsmanship, curiosity, and continuous improvement. Through weekly 1:1s, career-path planning, and hands-on coaching, you will ensure every team member has the skills, autonomy, and psychological safety to deliver their best work.
- • Define and enforce rigorous quality standards across the entire SDLC. You will author the company-wide test strategy, select KPIs (escape rate, code coverage, MTTR, test reliability), and build executive-level dashboards that translate technical metrics into business impact. Your frameworks will gate releases, protect brand reputation, and give stakeholders confidence that every line of code meets Berkshire Hathaway’s exacting standards.
- • Architect next-generation test automation solutions. You will evaluate, design, and extend custom frameworks in Python and TypeScript, integrating them seamlessly with GitHub Actions and Jenkins for true CI/CD. Whether the team needs UI coverage via Playwright, performance validation with Locust, or contract testing for new micro-services, you will decide when to build in-house, when to buy, and how to migrate legacy suites without disrupting delivery.
- • Drive cross-functional collaboration at scale. You will partner with Product, UX, DevOps, Security, and Compliance to embed quality gates, shift-left testing, and risk-based scoping into every epic and story. Acting as the voice of quality in quarterly planning, you will translate regulatory disclosure requirements and high-availability SLAs into concrete test charters and acceptance criteria.
- • Optimize test execution for speed and reliability. By parallelizing suites, containerizing environments, and leveraging cloud grids, you will cut regression runtime from hours to minutes while maintaining 99%+ stability. You will champion data-driven triage, flaky-test eradication, and predictive failure analytics to keep releases on a daily cadence.
- • Champion performance and scalability. You will design load, stress, and endurance scenarios that simulate real-world spikes—think earnings releases that hit tens of thousands of concurrent users—and ensure the platform gracefully handles 10× traffic without degradation. Your insights will guide capacity planning and infrastructure investment decisions.
- • Institutionalize continuous learning. You will curate an internal guild for quality best practices, run quarterly hack-days focused on exploratory testing and chaos engineering, and maintain a living playbook that evolves with new technology stacks. Your team will become the go-to center of excellence for test automation across Berkshire Hathaway’s portfolio.
- • Influence technology strategy at the executive level. You will present quarterly quality reviews to the CTO and CEO, translating defect trends, customer feedback, and competitive benchmarks into strategic initiatives. Your roadmap will balance short-term risk mitigation with long-term innovation, ensuring Business Wire remains the undisputed leader in press-release distribution.
- • Cultivate a remote-first culture of accountability and joy. You will refine lightweight rituals—daily async stand-ups, weekly demos, blameless post-mortems—that keep distributed teammates connected and motivated. By measuring developer experience (DX) and quality happiness indices, you will continuously refine processes to eliminate friction and celebrate wins.
