  • • As a Senior Risk Underwriter specializing in Workers' Compensation at Deel, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company’s PEO (Professional Employer Organization) operations by ensuring accurate risk assessment and compliant underwriting of workers’ compensation coverage for global clients. Your expertise will directly impact Deel’s ability to scale its PEO offerings securely and profitably, supporting businesses in hiring and managing talent across 150+ countries while maintaining regulatory adherence and financial stability.
  • • You will prepare and submit comprehensive underwriting packages to insurance carriers, meticulously gathering and validating client data such as payroll records, safety histories, claim logs, and workers’ compensation class codes to ensure completeness and accuracy before carrier review.
  • • You will review and validate workers’ compensation class code assignments based on client operations, job functions, and payroll details, collaborating with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure alignment with carrier underwriting guidelines and pricing models.
  • • You will maintain strict compliance with federal, state, and international labor regulations, including OSHA reporting requirements, while preserving accurate, auditable records of claims, resolutions, and underwriting decisions to support regulatory readiness and internal governance.
  • • You will conduct daily oversight of employee underwriting workflows, verifying that new hire data—including job classifications, payroll inputs, and risk profiles—are correctly entered into Deel’s systems, ensuring proper application of class codes and timely risk profiling for seamless client onboarding.
  • • You will investigate and resolve payroll-related inconsistencies that affect workers’ compensation underwriting, such as misclassified employees, erroneous wage reporting, or rate adjustments, serving as the primary point of contact for internal teams to escalate and correct underwriting discrepancies.
  • • You will partner cross-functionally with sales, implementation, payroll, and compliance teams to ensure seamless information flow and alignment between client onboarding, risk assessment, and policy binding across Deel’s integrated PEO platform.
  • • You will drive continuous improvement in underwriting and claims administration processes by identifying inefficiencies, leveraging Deel’s technology stack, and recommending system enhancements or integrations with external carriers and risk management tools to increase speed, accuracy, and scalability.
  • • You will contribute to a high-performing, globally distributed underwriting team within Deel’s fast-growing PEO division, where innovation, data-driven decision-making, and client-centric risk management are core to the company’s mission of enabling compliant, scalable global employment.
  • • You will develop deep expertise in the intersection of global HR technology, PEO business models, and workers’ compensation insurance, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor in risk mitigation and gaining exposure to cutting-edge AI-powered HR platforms that are redefining the future of work.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of direct experience in workers’ compensation risk assessment, underwriting, or claims management, preferably within a PEO, insurance carrier, or global HR services organization.
  • • Demonstrated proficiency in workers’ compensation class code systems, OSHA reporting standards, claims reporting procedures, and return-to-work program management.
  • • Hands-on experience with PrismHR configuration and troubleshooting from a workers’ compensation perspective is strongly preferred.
  • • Proven ability to communicate complex risk concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients, carriers, brokers, and internal teams.
  • • Exceptional analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail, capable of interpreting large datasets, identifying risk patterns, and making sound underwriting judgments under pressure.
  • • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, demonstrating adaptability, ownership, and a proactive mindset.
