📋 Description

• As a Senior Sales Engineer at Fivetran, you will be a pivotal technical advisor within our dynamic Commercial sales team, playing a crucial role in empowering thousands of companies to leverage their data effectively. Your primary mission will be to bridge the gap between our clients' complex business challenges and Fivetran's cutting-edge data replication solutions. You will dive deep into understanding the unique needs, use cases, and data replication requirements of our Commercial customers, translating these into compelling technical demonstrations and strategic solutions.
• You will be instrumental in driving the technical sales cycle, from initial discovery calls to the successful completion of proof-of-value (POV) engagements. This involves architecting and presenting tailored technical solutions that clearly articulate the value proposition of Fivetran, ensuring our prospects understand how our platform can revolutionize their data infrastructure and drive tangible business outcomes.
• Your role extends beyond individual customer engagements. You will collaborate closely with multiple Sales Representatives, acting as their trusted technical counterpart. This partnership is key to navigating complex sales landscapes and ensuring a consistently high level of customer focus and technical excellence throughout the entire sales process.
• A significant aspect of your contribution will involve identifying and articulating technical requirements for Fivetran's data pipelines. You will be responsible for ensuring a successful technical win by meticulously planning and executing organized proof-of-value processes, demonstrating Fivetran's capabilities in real-world scenarios.
• You will serve as a subject matter expert, possessing a strong command of modern data analytics technologies. This includes a deep understanding of cloud data warehouses (like Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks), transformation tooling, data catalogs, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools. Your ability to articulate how Fivetran integrates seamlessly into these ecosystems will be critical.
• Your technical expertise will also be leveraged to drive improvements within Fivetran itself. By working closely with various cross-functional organizations, you will provide invaluable feedback and insights that contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Fivetran's products and services. This includes sharing customer experiences and technical challenges to inform product development and strategy.
• Staying ahead of the curve is paramount. You will be expected to continuously update your knowledge on the latest technologies and trends within the data industry, particularly in areas of data replication, cloud infrastructure, and data management. This commitment to learning ensures you can always offer the most relevant and innovative solutions to our clients.
• You will also play a supportive role within the Sales Engineering team, assisting your colleagues with advanced technical or business roadblocks. This collaborative approach fosters a strong team environment where knowledge is shared, and collective success is prioritized.
• The technologies you'll engage with are diverse and cutting-edge, including major cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure, alongside leading data warehousing and analytics solutions such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks. You'll also gain exposure to tools like New Relic, and work with operating systems like Linux and Windows, potentially utilizing programming languages like Python and Java in your technical explorations.
• This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how businesses access and utilize their data, directly impacting their ability to become truly data-driven. You will be at the forefront of the modern data stack, helping organizations unlock the full potential of their information assets.
• You will be responsible for developing and delivering compelling technical presentations to Commercial audiences, effectively communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your ability to simplify intricate details and highlight business value will be key to your success.
• Your problem-solving and analytical skills will be continuously challenged as you diagnose customer needs, identify potential technical hurdles, and devise effective solutions using Fivetran's platform.
• You will be a key player in ensuring the smooth integration of Fivetran into diverse customer environments, which may include experience with self-hosted software applications and supporting infrastructure, as well as hands-on networking experience both in the cloud and on-premise.
• This is a full-time, hybrid position, offering a blend of remote flexibility and in-office collaboration, with two days per week expected in our Oakland, CA office to foster team connection and innovation.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in data replication, sales engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Strong technical background in database replication, cloud infrastructure, and data replication technologies, with demonstrable hands-on experience.
• Experience with modern data analytics technologies, including cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks), transformation tooling, data catalogs, and BI tools.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
