- • Join AnaVation’s elite R&D squad and become the technical linchpin behind next-generation mobile forensics for Federal Law Enforcement. You will architect, code, test, and deploy software that extracts, deciphers, and presents actionable intelligence from locked-down mobile devices—directly impacting national security operations.
- • Own the full-stack lifecycle for new forensic capabilities: from threat-modeling and requirements gathering through scalable micro-service design, rigorous unit/integration testing, CI/CD pipeline automation, and production rollout. Your code will run in classified cloud enclaves and on air-gapped hardware, so reliability, reproducibility, and security are non-negotiable.
- • Reverse-engineer commercial and custom mobile applications by decompiling APK/IPA packages, analyzing ARM/x86 binaries, and documenting proprietary protocols. You will turn opaque blobs of data into structured evidence that investigators can query in seconds, not hours.
- • Partner with data architects to evolve a high-volume, multi-tenant data model that captures every artifact—SMS, encrypted chat, GPS breadcrumbs, sensor telemetry—while remaining performant under petabyte-scale workloads. You will translate field requirements into schema changes, ETL jobs, and RESTful APIs.
- • Mentor junior developers through pair programming, code reviews, and brown-bag sessions on topics like memory-safe Rust patterns, advanced GDB scripting, or Ghidra extension development. Your guidance will raise the bar for the entire 30+ person engineering organization.
- • Contribute to Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retros) using Jira and Confluence. You will decompose epics into user stories, estimate complexity, and track burn-down while maintaining velocity in a fast-changing threat landscape.
- • Interface directly with federal customers and field operatives during quarterly on-site workshops in Lorton, VA. You will demo prototypes, gather feedback, and iterate in real time—often translating mission-critical needs into working code within days.
- • Maintain strict security posture: follow ICD-503 controls, perform static/dynamic code analysis, and document every finding for accreditation packages. You will champion secure-coding practices across the team and lead threat-modeling sessions for new features.
- • Stay ahead of the curve by researching emerging mobile OS versions, bootloader exploits, and obfuscation techniques. You will publish internal white-papers and present at classified tech exchanges, ensuring AnaVation remains the community’s technical leader.
- • Balance deep-work sessions (mostly remote) with twice-weekly on-site collaboration in Lorton, VA. Expect occasional one- to two-week sprints on-site for high-intensity integration events—travel covered, per-diem provided.
🎯 Requirements
- • Active Top-Secret clearance and eligibility for SCI with CI polygraph
- • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field
- • 6+ years professional software development with demonstrated expertise in Python and at least one of C/C++/Rust
- • Proven experience reverse-engineering mobile binaries using IDA Pro, Ghidra, JEB, or Hopper, and comfortable interpreting raw ARM/x86 assembly
- • Hands-on proficiency with Git, SQL (PostgreSQL/SQLite), and Agile issue tracking (Jira preferred)
