Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Drive end-to-end development of scalable healthcare data systems, from ideation and design docs to production rollout and customer feedback iteration.
- • Build and scale cloud-based platforms on AWS using ECS, Fargate, Lambda, and CDK, with a focus on infrastructure as code, monitoring, and cost optimization.
- • Transform legacy healthcare data protocols (e.g., TCP-based 90s-era systems) into modern HTTP webhooks for seamless integration with customer systems.
- • Design and implement an OpenSearch cluster to enable healthcare providers to rapidly search across comprehensive patient medical histories.
- • Leverage LLMs to convert unstructured doctor’s notes into structured, actionable medical data for inclusion in patient records.
- • Review and provide feedback on peer PRs, balancing quality with velocity—knowing when to prioritize rigor versus speed to market.
- • Manage personal workload and project tracking using Linear, ensuring alignment with sprint cycles and quarterly planning.
- • Participate in daily 30-minute remote stand-ups at 7:30am PST, Monday through Friday, as the only mandatory team meeting.
- • Contribute to a rotating daily on-call schedule, responding to production alerts, resolving customer-impacting issues, and addressing backlog items that improve developer experience and deployment velocity.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that directly impact 100+ healthcare customers and 300+ million patient records.
- • Own technical decisions with autonomy, prioritizing customer value and system reliability over trendy technologies.
- • Rapidly onboard using comprehensive documentation to understand the domain, codebase, and data flows, then ship production-ready features within weeks.
- • Identify and execute infrastructure cost-saving opportunities without compromising scalability or performance.
- • Work in a high-autonomy, engineering-heavy environment with minimal bureaucracy, where output is measured over hours logged.
- • Operate with entrepreneurial ownership, treating problems as challenges to solve quickly—even when domain expertise is lacking.
- • Maintain a hacker mindset: question assumptions, break rules when justified, and relentlessly optimize for impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer with a heavy lean toward back-end development.
- • Proven experience developing, scaling, and maintaining cloud-based platforms on AWS, including infrastructure as code (CDK), monitoring, and cost optimization.
- • Experience processing and transforming large volumes of data across services, including consolidation, querying, and integration.
- • Located in San Francisco or the Bay Area, or willing to relocate.
- • Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7, EHR/EMR, SNOMED, LOINC, ICD-10, or similar is a plus.
- • Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently, drive technical decisions, and mentor peers.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive equity and compensation package.
- • Full family Platinum health, dental, and vision insurance.
- • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.
- • Flexible work arrangement: work from home or in-office.
- • Complimentary healthy lunches when working in-office, with breakfast and dinners available as needed.
- • Unlimited PTO with trust-based time-off policy.
- • MacBook provided by the company.
- • Quarterly company off-sites with the team.
