📋 Description

• Lead the design and delivery of production AI systems that power HackerOne’s next-generation security platform, focusing on agentic workflows, LLM-powered features, and evaluation frameworks to improve vulnerability detection, triage, and remediation.
• Own end-to-end development of AI systems, including architecture, deployment, post-launch operations, and monitoring, ensuring reliability and scalability across global customer environments.
• Define and implement AI engineering standards across squads, including evaluation frameworks with golden sets, offline/online evaluations, experimentation pipelines, and strict prompt and version discipline.
• Apply first-principles problem solving to break down ambiguous AI challenges into scalable, maintainable systems that integrate LLMs, tool use, retrieval, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
• Drive data-driven decision making by defining success metrics, analyzing quality-latency trade-offs, and using data to guide AI system experimentation and continuous improvement.
• Adapt quickly to shifts in AI model capabilities, tooling, and priorities, re-scoping work effectively and maintaining alignment with cross-functional stakeholders across Pune, the Netherlands, and North America.
• Lead complex, cross-functional projects that integrate AI capabilities into core product features spanning backend, frontend, and platform layers, ensuring seamless user experiences and system reliability.
• Design, build, and maintain highly available, performant, and durable features across HackerOne’s platform, contributing to both AI innovation and system stability.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to align on priorities, clarify requirements, and deliver solutions with measurable customer impact.
• Identify and reduce technical debt in AI and non-AI code paths, improving code quality, scalability, and developer experience across shared systems.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on applied AI patterns, evaluation discipline, and production readiness for LLM-based systems, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
• Operate in an on-site capacity in Pune to enable strong collaboration, accelerate problem-solving, and build a connected engineering culture aligned with global teams.
• Ensure all AI systems adhere to security best practices and are designed with observability, failure mode analysis, and operational resilience as core principles.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in modern SaaS environments
• Hands-on experience building production AI-assisted features, LLM-powered workflows, or agentic systems at scale, with at least one non-trivial system taken from prototype to production
• Strong working knowledge of agentic architectures including tool use, function calling, workflow orchestration, retrieval and RAG, and human-in-the-loop patterns
• Strong working knowledge of LLM evaluation and experimentation including golden sets, offline/online evals, regression detection, and prompt and version discipline
• Strong proficiency in at least one dynamically typed, object-oriented programming language such as Ruby, JavaScript, or Python, with experience building scalable backend systems
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) to design and operate distributed systems
