Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the architecture and delivery of the real-time workforce intelligence engine that turns messy, multi-source hospital data into a living digital twin of every ward, unit, and shift. You’ll design event-driven pipelines that reconcile HL7 feeds, nurse-call systems, ADT messages, and labor-management exports—delivering sub-second updates to staffing dashboards used by CNOs and charge nurses across 20+ hospitals.
- • Lead end-to-end development of forecasting and planning modules that predict patient census and acuity 1–14 days ahead. You’ll surface probabilistic forecasts in an intuitive UI, expose confidence intervals, and let clinical leaders simulate “what-if” staffing scenarios—directly reducing premium labor spend and overtime burnout.
- • Build the optimization & recommendation layer that turns forecasts into concrete staffing actions. You’ll encode hard constraints (union rules, nurse-to-patient ratios, budget caps) and soft preferences (skill mix, continuity of care) into a fast mixed-integer solver that runs in <200 ms and surfaces the top three staffing plans with plain-English rationale.
- • Ship autonomous scheduling workflows that replace 40-page Excel spreadsheets with a prompt-driven experience: a nurse manager types “I need 3 RNs, 2 CNAs, and 1 RT for ICU nights next week” and the system returns an optimized schedule, flags conflicts, and auto-publishes to Kronos—all while respecting seniority, fatigue limits, and bargaining-unit agreements.
- • Champion code quality and developer velocity across the stack. You’ll establish patterns for TypeScript monorepos, define tRPC contracts, instrument Postgres with pg_stat_statements, and roll out Effect-driven error handling that keeps 99.9 % of runtime exceptions out of Slack.
- • Collaborate daily with founders, clinical ops, and customer success to translate on-the-ground pain into product specs. Expect to shadow a night-shift charge nurse at UCSF or sit with a staffing office in Phoenix to see how your feature performs under 3 a.m. chaos.
- • Contribute to hiring and mentoring. You’ll conduct technical interviews, run architecture reviews, and pair with junior engineers to level up the team as we scale from 8 to 25 engineers over the next 12 months.
- • Drive security and compliance initiatives that let us move fast without breaking HIPAA. You’ll design row-level ACLs, automate SOC 2 evidence collection, and partner with infosec teams at 500-bed health systems to pass penetration tests and vendor risk assessments.
- • Measure impact obsessively. You’ll wire up product analytics to quantify labor-cost savings, schedule-fill rates, and nurse-satisfaction deltas—then iterate ruthlessly until every release moves the metric it was meant to move.
- • Relish the ambiguity of an early-stage rocket ship. One week you’re optimizing a React table with 10 k rows, the next you’re white-boarding a new micro-service to stream HL7 messages over WebSockets. You’ll wear many hats, but every commit ships to production within hours and touches thousands of clinicians.
