📋 Description

• Build and evolve multi-gateway payment integrations by designing, implementing, and maintaining connections with providers like Stripe and PayPal, ensuring seamless abstraction for future gateway additions or swaps while owning end-to-end payment flows from initiation to settlement, refund, and reconciliation.
• Deliver full-stack payment experiences by developing backend services and APIs in C#/.NET and building customer-facing payment interfaces in React, Svelte, and TypeScript, collaborating with product and design teams to optimize checkout and payment management flows for accessibility and conversion.
• Champion security, compliance, and resilience by applying PCI-DSS best practices including tokenization, idempotency, retry logic, and audit controls, and partnering with Security and Compliance teams to maintain and advance certifications.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and enhance engineering practices across planning, coding, review, and debugging phases.
• Architect and operate distributed, event-driven services on AWS and Kubernetes, designing systems for scalability and high availability while implementing metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting to ensure observability and rapid incident response.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and partner cross-functionally with Payments, Marketplace, Grading, Vault, and platform teams to deliver cohesive payment experiences across the Collectors ecosystem.
• Design and manage relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB) data models, writing efficient queries and selecting appropriate storage layers based on system needs and performance requirements.
• Instrument all shipped code with observability tooling such as Datadog, building dashboards, setting up monitoring and alerting, and using distributed tracing to debug production issues proactively.
• Treat payment security as a first-class engineering concern, ensuring all systems are designed and operated with zero tolerance for vulnerabilities or compliance gaps.
• Communicate effectively across engineering, product, and stakeholder groups without direct authority, aligning teams through clear written and verbal communication, analytical problem-solving, and decisive leadership.
• Demonstrate extreme ownership by taking accountability for outcomes, adapting to fast-moving priorities, and stepping into any role necessary to deliver results in a self-directed environment.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum methodologies including sprint planning, iterative delivery, and adapting to shifting priorities while maintaining high standards for code quality and system reliability.
• Maintain deep expertise in C#/.NET for complex backend systems, including async patterns, distributed data consistency, and high-throughput API design.
• Apply frontend proficiency in React, Svelte, and TypeScript to build secure, responsive payment UIs with robust state management, form handling, and client-side data flow controls.
• Operate in a hybrid environment where candidates within one hour of the Santa Ana, California office may be expected to work onsite most of the time, with remote work permitted under company discretion.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience, with 2+ years as a Senior IC or equivalent technical leadership role at a high-growth or scaled consumer platform
• Deep backend expertise in C# (.NET) for designing and owning complex API surfaces and distributed systems
• Frontend proficiency in React, Svelte, and TypeScript for building secure, conversion-optimized payment user interfaces
• Strong fundamentals in relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases for schema design and query optimization
• Payments or fintech experience with hands-on knowledge of gateway integrations, idempotency, webhook reliability, tokenization, and PCI compliance
• Experience designing and operating microservices and event-driven architectures on AWS and Kubernetes
