📋 Description

• Design and build scalable cloud-based systems on AWS to power the Collectors Vault platform, which enables secure storage, management, and transfer of collectible assets such as trading cards, coins, video games, and memorabilia.
• Develop and maintain APIs and backend services that support millions of collectible assets and their lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, security, and integrity of customer-owned items.
• Own the end-to-end technical architecture and delivery of key features, from initial design through deployment, with senior-level influence across product, design, and engineering teams.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing backend systems by identifying and implementing optimization opportunities across the platform.
• Leverage modern AI tools such as Claude Code CLI and Codex as a core part of the development workflow to accelerate delivery, enhance engineering velocity, and explore innovative approaches to system building.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship, raising the overall quality and consistency of engineering practices across teams.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and technical program managers to shape requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and execute end-to-end solutions in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Ensure systems are built with strong engineering fundamentals including object-oriented programming, design patterns, testing, security, and observability.
• Work within a hybrid model where candidates within one hour of the Santa Ana, California office may be expected to work onsite most of the time, with remote work possible for those outside this range.
• Contribute to the evolution of the Vault as the central platform connecting grading, marketplace, fulfillment, and ownership experiences across Collectors’ subsidiaries including PSA, PCGS, Beckett, SGC, and Card Ladder.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building web applications, APIs, and distributed systems at scale
• 2+ years of hands-on AWS experience, including serverless and event-driven architectures
• Strong proficiency in Java; familiarity or proficiency with C# is a plus
• Proven experience using modern AI tools (e.g., Claude Code CLI, Codex) as a crucial part of the development workflow
• Strong fundamentals in engineering principles including OOP, design patterns, testing, security, and observability
• Proven experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional product teams embedded with Product, Design, TPM, and Business partners
