Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end delivery of high-impact, back-end systems that power recognition for nearly 4 million users across 170 countries. You will architect, build, and harden services that must scale elastically, remain resilient under peak traffic, and integrate with dozens of global payroll and HRIS platforms.
- • Lead the design and implementation of new product capabilities—think real-time reward fulfillment, AI-driven recognition insights, and multi-currency, multi-language payout engines—while mentoring mid-level engineers through detailed design docs, pair programming, and rigorous code reviews.
- • Champion microservice best practices: define bounded contexts, craft event-driven workflows with Pub/Sub, containerize services in Kubernetes, and deploy zero-downtime releases on Google Cloud Platform. You will set the technical bar for observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana) and automate everything from unit tests to security scanning.
- • Collaborate daily with Product Managers, UX researchers, Data Scientists, and QA to translate ambitious road-maps into shippable increments. You will present technical trade-offs to executives, negotiate scope, and ensure every feature meets strict privacy, compliance, and accessibility standards.
- • Optimize performance and cost at scale: profile Python/Go services, refactor hot paths, introduce caching layers (Redis, Memcached), and tune GCP resources to cut cloud spend without sacrificing user experience. Expect to reduce P99 latency and double throughput within your first year.
- • Drive a culture of continuous learning. Run internal tech talks, introduce new patterns (CQRS, serverless, GraphQL), and contribute to Achievers’ open-source initiatives. You will also participate in quarterly hack-days to prototype bold ideas that could become the next major product differentiator.
- • Ensure rock-solid security and data integrity. Implement OAuth 2.0 flows, encrypt PII at rest and in transit, conduct threat modeling sessions, and respond to security audits with swift remediation. Your code will protect the trust of Fortune 500 customers and their employees worldwide.
- • Be a remote-first leader. Whether you choose to work from Vancouver, Halifax, or a cabin in the Rockies, you will master asynchronous communication, facilitate inclusive Zoom rituals, and travel to our Liberty Village hub once per quarter for strategic planning and team building.
