- • Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, and navigate integration/UX tradeoffs across platforms using Speechify’s cross-platform SDK.
- • Optimize existing functionality to improve performance metrics such as faster loading times and more intelligent parsing by designing efficient abstractions and enhancing core algorithms.
- • Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin as the primary development language.
- • Design and maintain foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across all platforms, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- • Work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to translate user needs into robust technical solutions that directly enhance the end-user experience.
- • Apply systems thinking to solve problems with end-to-end design, prioritizing simplicity and clarity in architecture and API design.
- • Work quickly to generate multiple solution options, make informed decisions on what to ship immediately versus what requires further iteration, and maintain momentum in a high-growth environment.
- • Maintain focus in a remote, fast-paced startup setting by knowing when to engage collaboratively and when to work independently with deep concentration.
- • Collaborate effectively with opinionated designers, marketers, and product managers through inspiration, negotiation, and constructive dialogue.
- • Contribute to building a life-changing product used by millions, with direct impact on users who have learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism.
- • Work in one of the fastest-growing sectors of tech at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio, shaping the future of accessible information consumption.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience in Kotlin Multiplatform preferred
- • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain scalable, reliable APIs and foundational systems
- • Strong systems thinking with a focus on end-to-end design and simplicity
- • Experience shipping cloud functions, backend services, or jobs in a production environment
- • Proven track record of working effectively in a fast-paced, remote startup environment
- • Ability to balance speed of delivery with technical quality and user impact
