Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end delivery of critical product features that accelerate the development of life-changing therapies and sustainable products. You will translate complex bioprocess challenges into elegant, scalable software solutions that unify fragmented data streams and surface real-time insights for scientists working at the cutting edge of biotechnology.
- • Lead technical architecture decisions across our Python/FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL data layer, and Next.js/React frontend, ensuring that every line of code supports our mission to eliminate delays that cost more than money. Your choices will directly impact how quickly researchers can move from experiment to breakthrough.
- • Champion sustainable engineering practices that allow our platform to scale from dozens to thousands of bioreactors without compromising performance or reliability. You will design fault-tolerant ingestion pipelines, optimize time-series queries, and build abstractions that make complex bioprocess data feel simple.
- • Mentor and elevate engineers across European and US time zones, creating a culture where technical excellence and scientific curiosity reinforce each other. Through pair programming, architecture reviews, and thoughtful feedback, you will help teammates grow while ensuring our codebase remains a joy to work in.
- • Collaborate daily with Product, Data Science, and Customer Success to understand how scientists actually work, then translate those insights into intuitive features. You will sit in on user interviews, review lab workflows, and iterate rapidly based on real-world feedback from biotech teams operating under intense time pressure.
- • Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools across the engineering organization, experimenting with new ways to accelerate coding, testing, and deployment. You will establish best practices for prompt engineering, code generation, and automated testing that amplify human creativity rather than replace it.
- • Establish and maintain rigorous observability across our AWS infrastructure, ensuring that every bioreactor connection, data pipeline, and ML model behaves predictably under load. You will define SLIs, craft actionable alerts, and lead incident response with the calm precision that scientific research demands.
- • Contribute to our open-source initiatives and technical blog, sharing the unique challenges of building software for biotech. Whether writing about time-series compression algorithms or the ethics of AI in life sciences, you will help position Invert as a thought leader in computational biology.
- • Participate in quarterly team offsites that blend deep technical discussions with hands-on lab visits, giving you firsthand experience with the bioreactors and instruments your code controls. These sessions ensure every engineer understands the human impact of their work.
- • Balance hands-on coding (roughly 60%) with strategic leadership (40%), ensuring you stay close to the metal while guiding long-term technical direction. You will ship features, review pull requests, and debug production issues alongside coaching teammates and shaping our technical roadmap.
