📋 Description

• Own the full lifecycle of AI-driven product features that serve millions of corporate catering orders each year, from ideation and experimentation through production deployment and continuous optimization.
• Architect and ship scalable, fault-tolerant systems that combine large-language-model orchestration, real-time event data, and customer preference signals to deliver hyper-personalized order recommendations in under 200 ms.
• Partner daily with Product, Design, Research, and Analytics to translate complex customer needs into elegant technical solutions—whether that means auto-generating a complete buffet for 200 people or surfacing “don’t forget the vegan entrée” nudges at exactly the right moment.
• Pioneer the responsible use of LLMs in a high-stakes e-commerce environment: design prompt pipelines, guardrails, A/B tests, and observability dashboards that ensure accuracy, safety, and brand voice while delighting users.
• Build and maintain a modular, service-oriented architecture that cleanly separates concerns between recommendation inference, feature stores, customer profile enrichment, and front-end presentation layers.
• Instrument everything—latency, conversion uplift, model drift, customer satisfaction—then iterate relentlessly; expect to run dozens of concurrent experiments backed by statistically rigorous analysis.
• Mentor and pair with mid-level and junior engineers, raising the bar for code quality, testing practices, and AI/ML literacy across the broader engineering organization.
• Champion engineering excellence in a fully remote setting: lead architecture reviews, write detailed RFCs, run blameless post-mortems, and cultivate a culture of psychological safety and continuous learning.
• Contribute to the open-source and internal tooling ecosystem that powers our LLM stack—think prompt templating libraries, evaluation harnesses, and cost-aware routing layers.
• Stay ahead of the curve: evaluate emerging foundation models, fine-tuning techniques, and retrieval-augmented generation patterns, then rapidly prototype the most promising ideas in production shadow mode.
• Balance short-term business impact with long-term technical health; you’ll refactor critical paths for performance today while laying the groundwork for multi-modal recommendations tomorrow.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering to design streaming pipelines that turn clickstream, purchase history, dietary tags, and external catering trends into rich, real-time features for both heuristic and neural models.
• Influence the product roadmap with data-driven storytelling—present experiment read-outs to executives, quantify ROI, and secure investment for the next bold bet.
• Ensure accessibility and inclusivity are baked into every recommendation surface; our customers span every industry, culture, and dietary restriction, and our AI must serve them all equitably.
• Participate in a lightweight on-call rotation where you’ll own the health of recommendation services that directly drive revenue; we automate aggressively and keep alerts actionable and few.
• Celebrate wins and learn from misses in a team that values transparency, humor, and the occasional Slack meme—remote doesn’t mean distant.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of production software engineering experience with at least 2 years building and deploying ML or LLM-powered features at consumer or B2B scale.
• Expert-level fluency in Python or TypeScript and a track record of designing high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems on AWS or GCP.
• Demonstrated ability to translate product ambiguity into technical clarity: you’ve written design docs, run stakeholder reviews, and shipped iterative MVPs that evolve into robust platforms.
• Hands-on experience with modern LLM stacks—prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI Evals), and cost/performance monitoring.
• Strong grasp of statistical experimentation and causal inference; you can design and interpret A/B tests, multivariate tests, and quasi-experiments without assistance.
• Nice-to-have: prior work in e-commerce, food-tech, or marketplaces; familiarity with Kotlin or React; contributions to open-source ML/AI projects; advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
