- • Senior Software Engineer, Security role focused on making Loancrate more secure through hands-on engineering work in product and platform code, not compliance or process theater
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include building secure-by-default libraries and tooling, reviewing designs and pull requests for authentication/authorization/secrets handling, improving CI/CD guardrails, partnering with engineers to fix vulnerabilities, and contributing to incident analysis
- • Loancrate is a remote-first startup founded in 2020 that builds AI-native tooling to automate mortgage workflows, having enabled over $85 billion in new home loans while tackling industry complexity with open communication and collaboration
- • The role offers opportunity to materially improve product security through direct engineering work, define lightweight secure SDLC practices, and grow expertise in application security, threat modeling, and developer platform guardrails in a fast-moving fintech environment
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong software engineering background, ideally in backend or platform systems
- • Experience with secure design reviews, threat modeling, code review, and vulnerability remediation
- • Strong understanding of common application and API security issues including authentication, authorization, injection risks, secrets handling, session security, data exposure, and multi-tenant isolation
- • Experience building engineering-facing tooling, libraries, CLIs, CI/CD checks, or other developer-platform guardrails
- • Strong written communication and ability to explain technical risk clearly to engineers and non-security stakeholders
- • Comfort operating with high autonomy in a small or medium-sized engineering organization
