Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Software Engineer on the Trust and Telemetry (TnT) team at Apollo GraphQL, you will take real ownership of features and systems that power enterprise-grade identity, access management, auditing, and telemetry pipelines for GraphOS. Your work directly impacts the reliability, security, and scalability of a platform used by enterprises to safely evolve and scale their GraphQL graphs.
  • • Day to day, you will own a TnT subdomain such as OAuth/SSO flows, audit logging, telemetry ingestion, or fine-grained permissions; drive features end-to-end from design docs through implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring; build systems with observability, rollback paths, and incremental delivery in mind; participate in on-call rotations and postmortems; collaborate closely with Product and Design to scope and prioritize work using async-first communication; and contribute to team growth through code reviews, design discussions, and technical standards.
  • • The Trust & Telemetry team is split into two domains: Telemetry, which owns pipelines, APIs, and UX that turn raw usage and performance data into actionable insights for scaling graphs; and Trust, which manages identity, access control (OAuth, SSO, RBAC/ABAC), and audit logging to ensure secure, traceable access across GraphOS. The team values ownership, clarity, and incremental delivery in a remote-first environment spanning the US and Canada.
  • • In this role, you will grow as an engineer by contributing to technical standards, receiving and giving constructive feedback, shaping enterprise-grade systems, and deepening expertise in distributed systems, observability, and secure backend architectures—all while working on high-impact features used by Fortune 500 customers.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 2+ years of experience designing and building backend services in production
  • • Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals: consistency, failure modes, and resiliency patterns
  • • Experience building APIs and data models that other teams or customers depend on
  • • Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (TypeScript/Node, Go, Rust, Java, or similar)
  • • Experience with relational databases and at least one of: key-value, document, or time-series stores
  • • Hands-on ownership of services in production: on-call, incident response, postmortems
  • • Familiarity with observability tooling (metrics, tracing, logging) and SLOs
  • • Strong written and verbal communication, especially for design docs and async collaboration
  • • Ability to work with Product and Design to define scope, trade-offs, and delivery increments

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Opportunity to own and impact critical enterprise systems in Trust and Telemetry domains
  • • Work closely with Product, Design, and partner engineering teams in a collaborative, async-first environment
  • • Grow as an engineer through code reviews, design discussions, and technical standards contribution
  • • Work on systems with observability, rollback paths, and incremental delivery practices
  • • Participate in on-call and postmortems to build production maturity and incident response skills
  • • Remote work flexibility across the United States or Canada
