đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the end-to-end development, integration, and operationalisation of high-fidelity simulation environments for Hivemind Mission Autonomy programs in Australia.
- • Architect and implement real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation systems used by autonomy, perception, and systems engineering teams to design, test, and validate uncrewed aircraft mission autonomy.
- • Design and maintain scalable, operationally representative simulation ecosystems that directly support mission-critical software development and validation.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with autonomy, perception, and systems engineering teams to align simulation capabilities with program requirements and technical constraints.
- • Develop and integrate simulation frameworks that enable rapid iteration, testing, and demonstration of advanced uncrewed aircraft mission autonomy capabilities.
- • Ensure simulation environments accurately reflect real-world operational conditions to support credible testing and customer demonstrations.
- • Provide technical leadership to engineering teams in the design and implementation of simulation infrastructure, including sensor modeling, environmental dynamics, and vehicle dynamics.
- • Drive the adoption of best practices in simulation software engineering, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and reproducible testing workflows.
- • Translate mission requirements from customer programs and internal R&D into technical specifications for simulation system development.
- • Maintain and enhance existing simulation platforms while innovating new capabilities to support evolving autonomy algorithms and mission profiles.
- • Document simulation architectures, interfaces, and usage protocols to ensure knowledge transfer and team scalability.
- • Support field deployments and customer demonstrations by ensuring simulation outputs are reliable, interpretable, and aligned with operational needs.
- • Work closely with hardware and software teams to ensure simulation models are synchronized with real-world vehicle behavior and sensor data.
- • Identify and mitigate technical risks in simulation development, ensuring robustness under edge-case and high-stress operational scenarios.
- • Contribute to the strategic roadmap for simulation capabilities within Shield AI’s Australian operations, aligning with global product goals.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading the development of real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation systems for autonomous systems or robotics
- • Deep expertise in modeling and simulating uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) dynamics, sensor systems, and environmental interactions
- • Strong background in software engineering for high-performance, scalable simulation frameworks
- • Experience working in defense, aerospace, or autonomous systems domains with mission-critical software requirements
- • Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver complex simulation ecosystems used for testing and validating autonomy algorithms
- • Proficiency in C++, Python, and simulation tools such as Gazebo, AirSim, or similar platforms
🏖️ Benefits
- • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous systems protecting service members and civilians worldwide
- • Access to state-of-the-art simulation and autonomy technologies in a venture-backed deep-tech environment
