Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect the next-generation global corporate network for a US$6.2 billion fintech leader. You will own the end-to-end design, build, and run phases of Airwallex’s CorpNet, ensuring 1,800+ employees across 26 offices can collaborate securely and at speed. Your blueprints will directly influence how product, engineering, finance, and support teams serve 150,000+ businesses worldwide.
- • Expand our footprint: lead the network rollout for every new Airwallex office—from site surveys and ISP negotiations to final cut-over—while simultaneously upgrading legacy environments in existing locations. You decide topology, hardware mix, redundancy models, and budget, turning green-field spaces into production-ready networks within weeks.
- • Engineer bullet-proof connectivity. Design and maintain highly available LAN, WAN, Wireless, and VPN fabrics that span APAC, EMEA, and the Americas. Balance latency-sensitive trading traffic with high-bandwidth video and cloud workloads, leveraging international leased lines, domestic internet, and SD-WAN overlays.
- • Configure and tune multi-vendor gear at global scale. You will be the authority on Juniper MX/EX/QFX, Palo Alto PA-series, Cisco ISR/ASR, Aruba access layers, and Juniper Mist wireless. Command-line depth (JunOS, IOS, PAN-OS) is essential; you’ll script repeatable builds and guardrails so junior engineers can deploy safely.
- • Own incident response end-to-end. As the senior escalation point, you’ll triage P1 outages, coordinate follow-the-sun on-call rotations, author post-mortems, and turn every failure into a hardened design. Your dashboards and runbooks will become the gold standard for reliability.
- • Secure the perimeter and the endpoint. Integrate GlobalProtect, Prisma Access, and next-gen firewalls with zero-trust principles. Work hand-in-hand with CorpSec and ProdSec to enforce RBAC/ABAC policies, micro-segmentation, and continuous compliance across SaaS, IaaS, and on-prem assets.
- • Bridge networking and endpoint engineering. Collaborate with IT Engineering to troubleshoot Wi-Fi roaming, certificate trust, and MDM-driven policy on macOS and Windows fleets. Your deep wireless knowledge (Mist, Meraki, Aruba) will eliminate the “it must be the Wi-Fi” blame game.
- • Solve the China connectivity puzzle. Architect solutions that gracefully traverse the Great Firewall, blending MPLS, CN2, and local ISP circuits while maintaining encryption, observability, and regulatory compliance.
- • Mentor and scale the team. Define hiring rubrics, interview loops, and onboarding playbooks. Coach junior engineers through complex packet captures and design reviews; manage performance compassionately but decisively. Your leadership will double the team’s velocity without sacrificing quality.
- • Automate everything. Introduce IaC (Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD pipelines, and telemetry stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK) so network changes deploy like software releases. Eliminate toil and free human cycles for higher-order problems.
- • Document tribal knowledge. Maintain living diagrams, SOPs, and architectural decision records in Git. When the next engineer joins at 3 a.m. Singapore time, they can find the answer in Confluence, not Slack.
- • Influence the product roadmap. Feed real-world network constraints back to platform teams building embedded-finance APIs. Your insights will shape how customers experience Airwallex at global scale.
🎯 Requirements
- • Senior-level hands-on expertise designing, implementing, and maintaining Juniper and Palo Alto Networks solutions in production
- • Demonstrated experience in a multi-vendor environment (Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba, etc.) across global offices
- • Proven track record building and securing networks for mainland China and international connectivity
- • Deep command-line proficiency with JunOS, PAN-OS, IOS, and related vendor CLIs
- • Experience leading or mentoring network engineering teams in high-growth startups or scale-ups
🏖️ Benefits
- • Work on the global payments platform trusted by Brex, Rippling, Navan, Qantas, and SHEIN
- • Backed by world-leading investors including Visa, Sequoia, DST Global, and Salesforce Ventures
- • 26 global offices with flexible hybrid work and follow-the-sun on-call rotations that respect your time zone
- • Accelerated career growth: tackle high-visibility, complex problems with exceptional teammates and true ownership end-to-end
- • Equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and providing accommodations for disabilities or special needs
