📋 Description

• Own and evolve the architecture of SentinelOne’s self-hosted (on-prem) Endpoint Protection platform across multiple teams, including backend services, data pipelines, control logic, and deployment topology delivered as containerized microservices on bare metal or as an appliance/OVA.
• Set the standard for high availability and resilience in customer-controlled deployments by designing and implementing clustering, replication, failover, consensus/leader election, and graceful degradation across single-node and multi-node topologies.
• Define scalability and capacity-planning strategies that perform reliably across diverse customer hardware environments, including constrained and air-gapped networks, and establish frameworks for performance, observability, and operational excellence.
• Lead the translation of SaaS and cloud-native capabilities into robust on-prem architectures, refining vague or complex requirements into future-proof, end-to-end designs that span multiple engineering teams.
• Drive medium-to-large cross-team engineering initiatives, influence the product roadmap, and act as a technical authority by reviewing and elevating the work of senior engineers and mentoring staff-level engineers.
• Implement infrastructure cost analysis and optimization strategies for customer-deployed systems, ensuring efficient resource utilization without compromising reliability or security.
• Establish coding patterns, architectural standards, and best practices that are adopted across teams to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability of the self-hosted platform.
• Design and deliver packaging and lifecycle management solutions for customer-controlled environments, including upgrades, patching, and deployment in restricted or air-gapped networks.
• Apply deep expertise in distributed systems to solve complex challenges in on-prem security platforms, with a focus on fault tolerance, data consistency, and operational autonomy in environments outside SentinelOne’s direct control.
• Collaborate with product, security, and operations teams to align architectural decisions with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and enterprise security standards.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert in one or more core areas of distributed systems architecture, including replication, leader election, sharding, load balancing, and horizontal/vertical scaling in on-prem deployments.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience with a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Deep hands-on expertise in Go and/or Python, with proven experience using PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, Docker, and Linux
• Extensive, proven experience designing and delivering on-prem/self-hosted software, including appliance/OVA packaging, containerized deployments, upgrades, and operation in air-gapped or restricted networks
• Strong track record architecting distributed systems for high availability and fault tolerance in customer-controlled environments, including clustering, replication, failover, and consensus mechanisms
• Ability to translate vague, complex requirements into robust, scalable end-to-end designs and influence cross-team engineering roadmaps
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and acting as a technical authority who reviews and elevates the work of peers
