Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Serve as the primary surgical liaison between AskBio and Europe’s leading neurosurgical centers, ensuring the safe, protocol-compliant delivery of first-in-class gene therapies for Parkinson’s disease, multiple system atrophy, and other CNS disorders. You will be the face of AskBio in the operating theatre, trusted by surgeons, scrub teams, and anesthetists alike.
- • Provide real-time intra-operative guidance during stereotactic and convection-enhanced delivery procedures, interpreting live MRI/CT imaging, troubleshooting device placement, and confirming accurate vector administration to targeted brain structures. Your calm presence and technical acumen directly influence patient safety and therapeutic efficacy.
- • Design and roll out immersive, site-specific educational curricula—from didactic workshops to hands-on cadaver labs—that upskill neurosurgeons, OR nurses, and radiology technicians on novel delivery catheters, neuronavigation workflows, and imaging protocols. Each module you create shortens site start-up timelines and elevates procedural consistency across multi-country trials.
- • Map, document, and continuously refine surgical workflows for every participating site, integrating local constraints (equipment, staffing, regulatory nuances) into a harmonized SOP library. Your blueprints become the gold standard against which future trials are benchmarked.
- • Partner with Regulatory Affairs and Quality to author device sections of IND/CTA submissions, investigator brochures, and risk analyses, translating complex surgical data into clear, audit-ready dossiers that accelerate approvals in the EU and UK.
- • Scout and qualify new neurosurgical centers for upcoming Phase II/III programs, conducting on-site feasibility visits, evaluating OR infrastructure, and presenting capability assessments to internal governance committees. Your recommendations determine where life-changing therapies will be available.
- • Maintain an external radar of scientific and competitive developments—new stereotactic frames, robotic arms, contrast agents—feeding insights into AskBio’s device roadmap and ensuring our platform remains at the leading edge of precision neuro-delivery.
- • Serve as the voice of the surgical customer on cross-functional Integrated Product Teams, translating unmet needs into design inputs for next-generation catheters, cannulas, and software. Your field observations directly shape R&D priorities.
- • Capture high-resolution intra-operative data (imaging, pressure, flow rates) and collaborate with Data Sciences to build predictive models that optimize dosing volumes and infusion rates, reducing procedure time and variability.
- • Champion a culture of uncompromising ethics and patient-centricity by mentoring junior field staff, modeling SOP adherence, and leading post-procedure debriefs that celebrate successes and transparently dissect near-misses.
- • Travel extensively—often >50 %—across the UK, EU, and occasionally North America, adapting rapidly to shifting enrollment calendars, emerging regulatory queries, and last-minute protocol amendments while maintaining personal well-being and compliance with local COVID or other health requirements.
- • Leverage exceptional written and verbal communication skills to author trip reports, white papers, and peer-reviewed publications that advance the global neurosurgical community’s understanding of gene therapy delivery.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in science, nursing, biomedical engineering or related field plus 8+ years relevant experience (or Master’s plus 6+ years), including hands-on neurosurgical device support
- • Demonstrated experience with brain imaging modalities (MRI and CT) in a clinical or research setting
- • Proven ability to train and influence multidisciplinary surgical teams in the operating room
- • Willingness to travel >50 % across Europe and occasionally internationally
- • Preferred: direct exposure to CNS local drug delivery, neuronavigation platforms, and regulatory submissions for medical devices
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote UK/EU base with flexible location (Bristol, London, Warsaw, or other major hub) and autonomy over travel scheduling
- • Opportunity to shape first-in-human gene therapies that may halt or reverse neurodegenerative diseases
- • Access to Bayer/AskBio’s global network of scientific, clinical, and commercial experts for accelerated career growth
- • Comprehensive relocation assistance, competitive compensation, and equity participation in a rapidly expanding gene therapy pioneer
