  • • Serve as the Engineer of Record for small to mid-sized projects involving public safety communications systems.
  • • Design and engineer multi-faceted systems requiring expertise in RF LMR, coverage and capacity planning, microwave systems, and BDA (Bi-Directional Amplifier) design.
  • • Apply knowledge of Motorola ASTRO systems, P25 Land Mobile Radio terminology, and P25 interoperability solutions including ISSI, WAVE, Critical Connect, and SmartConnect.
  • • Conduct detailed customer and consultant interactions for design reviews, system staging, acceptance testing, live upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • • Collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering teams, Technicians, and external vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • • Develop and maintain design documents, drawings, and technical specifications using standard office and drafting software tools.
  • • Configure, troubleshoot, and test IP network-based systems, including servers running VMware ESXi, Linux, and Microsoft operating systems.
  • • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure using Fortinet firewalls, Nokia 7705 routers, Juniper SRX/MX routers, and HP/HPE/Aruba switches.
  • • Perform remote system access and troubleshooting using VPNs, SSH, SCP, SFTP, and RDP while adhering to strict security protocols.
  • • Analyze and implement AC/DC power systems including generators, UPS, battery plants, rectifiers, surge protection, and proper grounding practices.
  • • Participate in site selection and construction planning for communication facilities, including tower and equipment shelter requirements.
  • • Model and test radio coverage using company-supplied software tools and validate system performance under real-world conditions.
  • • Debug software installations, review system logs, and coordinate with development engineers to resolve technical issues.
  • • Configure network devices via CLI commands and verify operational status using show commands and script-based automation.
  • • Learn and apply company-specific software tools for system implementation, configuration, and RF system troubleshooting.
  • • Exhibit strong technical writing and communication skills to present complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • • Manage multiple concurrent projects, adapt to shifting priorities, and lead customer-facing meetings independently from a remote home office.
  • • Engage internal specialists and colleagues when encountering unfamiliar or complex technical challenges.
  • • Maintain continuous learning through company training programs and independent professional development.
  • • Obtain and maintain required government security clearance for customer-facing projects.
  • • Travel 25-50% to customer sites, field locations, and project installations as needed.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technical discipline with 3+ years of experience OR 5+ years of engineering/technical experience
  • • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely (no sponsorship available)
  • • Must reside in Maryland or Washington, D.C.
  • • Ability to obtain government security clearance
  • • Experience with RF LMR systems, P25 standards, and public safety communications infrastructure
  • • Proficiency in IP networking, server systems (VMware, Linux, Windows), and network hardware (Fortinet, Juniper, Nokia, Aruba)
