- • The Sequencing Specialist II role at Illumina is a customer-facing, strategic and technical sales position focused on driving adoption of Illumina’s sequencing and multiomic product portfolios to advance health equity and transform human health through genomic innovation.
- • Day to day, the specialist works closely with Territory Account Managers, District Sales Managers, marketing, and internal specialists to develop territory plans, deliver technical seminars, build long-term customer relationships, and ensure the sales team is trained on product and application knowledge.
- • Illumina is a global leader in genomic technology, committed to expanding access to sequencing to enable life-changing discoveries in disease detection, diagnosis, and treatment, fostering an inclusive, innovative culture where every employee can make a meaningful impact.
- • In this role, the individual will deepen expertise in next-generation sequencing and multiomics, refine technical presentation and sales skills, influence strategic business planning, and grow as a trusted scientific advisor to customers and internal teams.
🎯 Requirements
- • BA/BS or MS in Life/Biological Sciences required; Ph.D. or Masters in Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, or related field highly desired; MBA a plus
- • Minimum 2 years of related experience in life sciences or genomics
- • Technological expertise in Next Generation Sequencing and multiomic applications, basic informatics, and clinical/research sequencing markets
- • Customer-facing sales or support experience in Life Sciences or Genomics preferred
- • Presentation experience: capable of delivering persuasive messages integrating sales and technical acumen to diverse audiences
- • Ability to learn quickly and independently, maintain deep current knowledge of multiomics and sequencing applications
- • Highly self-motivated, independent, adaptable, and successful in dynamic environments; strong drive to win business and build long-term customer relationships
- • Team player with excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- • Willingness to travel ~50% within territory, with some trips outside territory
