Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Design simulation environments that are visually rich, physically plausible, and trainable at scale by combining generative rollouts with physics-engine-based scenes.
  • • Build evaluation harnesses to measure the quality of the world model, focusing on sim-to-real gap, physical consistency, and long-horizon coherence.
  • • Develop differentiable and GPU-accelerated simulation pipelines to unlock new training signals for robot policies.
  • • Drive asset, scene, and task generation pipelines using Luma’s proprietary generative video and 3D model stack to bootstrap diversity and scale.
  • • Collaborate directly with upstream world-model researchers and downstream policy-learning researchers to align simulation capabilities with training objectives.
  • • Define the boundary between generative modeling and classical physics simulation, determining where each approach delivers optimal performance and efficiency.
  • • Ensure simulation environments are robust enough to train general-purpose robot policies that can transfer effectively to real-world deployment.
  • • Optimize simulation infrastructure for high-throughput training, including scalable scene generation and parallelized evaluation metrics.
  • • Leverage production-grade physics engines such as Isaac Sim/Lab, MuJoCo, Bullet, PhysX, or Drake to construct and validate dynamic systems.
  • • Integrate Luma’s generative models into simulation workflows to create diverse, realistic, and controllable synthetic environments.
  • • Maintain and improve the fidelity of simulated physical interactions while balancing computational efficiency for large-scale training.
  • • Translate research goals into scalable engineering systems that enable continuous improvement in robot policy training performance.
  • • Document simulation architectures, evaluation protocols, and asset generation workflows for cross-team adoption and reproducibility.
  • • Participate in technical reviews and design discussions to shape the future direction of Luma’s simulation substrate for embodied intelligence.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Strong background in robotics simulation, computer graphics, physics-based modeling, or generative 3D — degree or equivalent practical record.
  • • Fluency in Python and C++; deep familiarity with at least one production physics engine (Isaac Sim/Lab, MuJoCo, Bullet, PhysX, Drake).
  • • Track record of building simulation systems other people actually used.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Base pay range of $250,000 – $450,000 per year.
  • • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge simulation infrastructure for training general-purpose robot policies.
  • • Collaborative environment with world-model and policy-learning researchers at Luma Labs.
