Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the reliability, scalability, and performance of OpenFX’s global payment infrastructure that moves billions of dollars for institutional clients. You will design, build, and run the systems that must never go down, ensuring every transaction settles in seconds, not days.
- • Architect and automate multi-region, multi-cloud environments (AWS + GCP) using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi) to achieve 99.99 % uptime and sub-second latency for FX settlement rails across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.
- • Build and maintain real-time observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki) that surface the health of payment flows, liquidity pools, and partner integrations; create SLOs, error budgets, and actionable alerts that keep the entire engineering org focused on customer impact.
- • Lead incident response for critical production issues, running blameless post-mortems and driving systemic fixes that prevent recurrence; you’ll be the calm voice on the bridge call when a bank’s cut-over window is 30 minutes away.
- • Engineer chaos-testing pipelines and game-day exercises that validate failover scenarios for core ledger services, message queues (Kafka, NATS), and cryptographic key-management systems (HSMs, Vault) used to sign high-value transactions.
- • Optimize CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, Argo CD) to push code to production dozens of times per day with zero-downtime blue/green and canary deployments; you’ll make “ship to prod before lunch” the default for every backend engineer.
- • Partner with security and compliance teams to embed PCI-DSS, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 controls into every layer of the stack—from hardened AMIs to network micro-segmentation—while maintaining developer velocity.
- • Design cost-aware architectures that balance performance with cloud spend; you’ll own the AWS bill and find creative ways to cut waste without compromising reliability or speed of innovation.
- • Mentor junior engineers and SRE apprentices, establishing best practices for on-call rotations, runbooks, and documentation that turn tribal knowledge into institutional knowledge.
- • Contribute to OpenFX’s open-source initiatives, publishing tooling and libraries that help the broader fintech community move money faster and more reliably.
- • Influence product roadmaps by translating operational data into actionable insights—when you see a latency spike in the EUR→SGD corridor at 3 a.m., you’ll know whether it’s a code regression, a partner API change, or a new market demand.
- • Work fully remote with a globally distributed team that spans San Francisco, London, Singapore, and Bangalore; we optimize for asynchronous communication and deep-work blocks, not endless Zoom calls.
- • Join a culture that treats reliability as a product feature: every deploy is an experiment, every metric tells a story, and every engineer is responsible for the customer experience from commit to cash settlement.
