Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join Chartbeat as a Software Engineer 1 and become part of a newly-forged powerhouse that unites Tubular, Lineup, FatTail, and Chartbeat under one mission: helping publishers grow reach and revenue for their content. You’ll sit at the intersection of audience analytics, content intelligence, and ad-tech, building the next generation of products that already serve thousands of media brands worldwide.
- • Own features end-to-end—from scoping and technical design through coding, automated testing, deployment, and post-release monitoring—in a fully-remote, async-first environment. You’ll ship production code in your first 30 days and see it drive real-time decisions for editors, marketers, and ad-ops teams within hours of release.
- • Work primarily in Python and JavaScript (React/Node) on AWS infrastructure, leveraging serverless patterns, containerized micro-services, and event-driven architectures. You’ll extend our data pipelines that process billions of monthly page-view events, enrich them with ML-driven insights, and surface them through intuitive dashboards and APIs.
- • Collaborate daily with product managers, data scientists, and customer-success engineers to translate customer pain-points into elegant technical solutions. Expect rapid feedback loops: morning stand-ups, weekly demos, and monthly “Ship-it” days where any engineer can pitch and build an experiment that goes live to 5,000+ newsrooms.
- • Champion reliability and performance. You’ll instrument code with metrics, set SLAs, and participate in a blameless on-call rotation (one week in eight). Your optimizations will shave milliseconds off critical paths and save terabytes of storage, directly lowering AWS costs and improving user experience.
- • Contribute to our inclusive engineering culture. We run architecture guilds, lightning talks, and open-source Fridays. Whether you’re writing a design doc, reviewing a pull request, or pairing with a teammate in Nairobi or New York, you’ll help raise the bar for code quality and knowledge sharing.
- • Grow your career through quarterly OKRs, bi-annual 360° feedback, and an annual learning stipend of $2,500. Chartbeat has a proven track record of promoting engineers from entry-level to staff in under four years; your manager will craft a personalized growth plan tied to business impact.
- • Influence the product roadmap. Engineers at every level present customer insights and technical trade-offs to the executive team. Your first proposal could shape how we unify analytics across video, web, and social platforms, creating a single source of truth for global publishers.
🎯 Requirements
- • 1+ years of professional software-engineering experience in Python, JavaScript, or similar high-level language
- • Solid grasp of computer-science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- • Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern deployment pipelines (CI/CD, Docker, Terraform)
- • Nice-to-have: familiarity with real-time data processing (Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub) and React front-end development
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours and a $1,000 home-office stipend
- • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and 75% for dependents
- • 20 days PTO plus 12 company holidays and a week-long winter shutdown
- • Annual professional-development budget of $2,500 and paid conference attendance
