📋 Description

• Design, build, and scale the creative rendering and presentation systems that power OpenAI’s ads experiences across text, image, video, native, conversational, and interactive formats.
• Develop infrastructure and tooling for ad formats that operate reliably across ChatGPT and other OpenAI product surfaces at global scale.
• Define how ads are structured, rendered, validated, and delivered to ensure seamless integration into the core ChatGPT user experience.
• Build systems that guarantee high performance, reliability, and quality standards for ad delivery across diverse platforms and media types.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Research teams to prototype, test, and ship ad experiences that feel native, useful, and aligned with OpenAI’s safety and privacy standards.
• Architect distributed systems and services with strong guarantees for reliability, usability, privacy, and performance.
• Drive 0→1 product development through rapid prototyping, experimentation, and iterative deployment in a greenfield environment.
• Contribute to technical strategy and help shape the roadmap for OpenAI’s ads formats platform by proposing new directions and architectural improvements.
• Maintain high engineering rigor through robust testing, comprehensive documentation, observability, and operational best practices.
• Uphold the highest levels of safety, privacy, fairness, and policy compliance across all ad rendering and delivery systems.
• Ensure ad experiences are privacy-preserving, user-first, and aligned with OpenAI’s mission to responsibly scale access to intelligence.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and design to create monetization products that strengthen user trust and support long-term innovation.
• Work in a fast-paced environment where systems, architecture, and user experiences must be defined from scratch with minimal existing infrastructure.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building high-scale consumer product experiences, creative systems, ads systems, or platform infrastructure.
• Proven track record of architecting and delivering complex systems that power user-facing experiences across multiple surfaces.
• Comfort working at the intersection of frontend systems, backend infrastructure, design, and product strategy.
• Strong product intuition and experience collaborating deeply with Product, Design, and Research teams.
• Experience thriving in 0→1 environments where systems and user experiences are defined from scratch.
• Clear communication skills and ability to make decisions rooted in both user needs and long-term sustainability.
