- • As a Software Engineer on the Engineering Acceleration team within OpenAI’s Consumer Devices division, you will build the foundational CI/CD systems, developer workflows, and internal platform capabilities that enable engineers to develop, test, ship, and debug software across device and cloud environments at scale.
- • Your day-to-day work will involve designing and operating robust build and deployment pipelines, improving developer productivity by reducing feedback loops, creating self-serve tooling, and implementing secure-by-default platform features such as secrets management, access controls, and auditability.
- • You will partner with product, systems, release, quality, and infrastructure teams to translate pain points into durable platform improvements, define and track engineering effectiveness metrics, and participate in on-call rotations for the systems you own.
- • The team operates in a high-impact, fast-moving environment where you’ll work alongside top talent in research, engineering, and operations to shape how humanity interacts with intelligence through scalable, reliable, and secure software delivery systems.
- • This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on engineering velocity and reliability while working with cutting-edge infrastructure including Kubernetes, Terraform, Buildkite, Bazel, Postgres, Cosmos DB, and Kafka.
- • You will grow your expertise in platform engineering, developer productivity, and secure software delivery while contributing to systems that empower hundreds of engineers to move faster and safer.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years focused on developer productivity, CI/CD, internal platform, or engineering systems
- • Deep experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and software delivery infrastructure for complex products
- • Proven track record of building platform features and workflow improvements that significantly increased engineering velocity, reliability, or developer experience
- • Experience making architectural decisions for internal platforms, including standardization, abstraction, and simplicity tradeoffs based on organizational maturity
- • Working knowledge of secure software delivery practices such as least-privilege access, secrets management, policy enforcement, auditability, and software supply chain hardening
- • Strong empathy for engineering workflows and the ability to identify and eliminate sources of toil
