- • Build, maintain, and improve core authentication features for the ID.me Wallet including sign-in, registration, MFA, account recovery, password reset, and MyWallet, ensuring seamless access for over 140 million users.
- • Independently drive small-to-medium features end-to-end from design through deployment, collaborating with Product, Design, and Security teams to translate requirements into well-tested, production-ready code.
- • Own and evolve the team’s real-time risk engine to detect and mitigate credential attacks, account takeover, and abuse while maintaining a low-friction experience for legitimate users.
- • Apply security best practices as a first-class concern in all authentication flows, including secure credential handling, session management, token issuance, and rate limiting.
- • Write high-quality, maintainable code with strong test coverage, adhering to team standards for code reviews, CI/CD, and documentation, while proactively addressing technical debt and improving shared components.
- • Integrate with third-party MFA providers, email/SMS delivery services, internal identity services, and downstream relying parties, and proactively surface integration issues or opportunities.
- • Contribute to the reliability, observability, and incident response capabilities of authentication services to ensure high availability and performance at scale.
- • Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Security, Identity, and adjacent engineering groups to deliver cohesive authentication experiences across federal, state, healthcare, and consumer brand platforms.
- • Participate actively in planning, retrospectives, and cross-team discussions to shape the team’s roadmap and improve engineering processes.
- • Work in a fast-moving product environment with iterative releases and A/B testing to continuously optimize the user experience and security posture of the authentication system.
- • Utilize AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) daily to enhance code quality, test coverage, and engineering velocity as part of an AI-first engineering culture.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- • 3+ years of professional software development experience with a strong emphasis on full-stack web engineering
- • Proficiency in a modern server-side web framework (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Django, Laravel) with at least 2 years of hands-on experience building and operating production web applications
- • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) demonstrated by at least one year of daily use
