- • Develop mission-critical firmware for IoT-enabled electric mobility devices, focusing on wireless bring-up, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and telemetry data upload integrated with cloud infrastructure.
- • Partner cross-functionally with hardware, cloud, mobile, and UX teams to architect and deliver end-to-end connected systems that align with ALSO’s vertically integrated product vision.
- • Design, implement, and test firmware features ensuring robustness, reliability, and security for devices operating in real-world environments.
- • Optimize firmware for low-power operation by profiling power consumption at both submodule and system levels to maximize battery life and support energy-efficient design goals.
- • Implement and enforce security protocols including authentication, encryption, and data integrity measures to protect devices from firmware-level threats and unauthorized access.
- • Build and maintain a scalable CI/CD pipeline with automated testing, version control, and deployment workflows to enable rapid, reliable firmware releases.
- • Collaborate closely with QA teams to define test strategies, analyze failure metrics, and debug issues using real-world diagnostic tools such as Wireshark.
- • Engage with third-party vendors and contractors by delivering clear technical specifications, managing execution, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and performance standards.
- • Work with real-time operating systems (RTOS), specifically Zephyr RTOS and/or FreeRTOS, to manage concurrency, scheduling, and resource allocation in resource-constrained embedded environments.
- • Interface with wireless communication technologies including BLE, LTE, GPS, NFC, and UWB to enable device connectivity and location-based services.
- • Apply knowledge of IoT data protocols such as MQTT and HTTP to facilitate secure, efficient communication between devices and cloud endpoints.
- • Ensure firmware complies with wireless regulatory standards and integrates seamlessly with cloud APIs for device management and data analytics.
- • Champion automation, code quality, and best practices across the firmware team to foster a high-performance engineering culture.
- • Contribute to technical roadmap planning and mentor junior engineers on firmware development, debugging, and system-level integration.
🎯 Requirements
- • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- • 6+ years of experience in firmware development, focused on wireless communications on common silicon, especially Nordic
- • Expert in C programming, with familiarity in C++, Python, and bash scripting
- • Past experience working with wireless technologies (BLE, LTE, GPS, NFC, UWB)
- • Proficiency with real-time operating system concepts including direct experience with Zephyr RTOS and/or FreeRTOS
- • Hands-on experience debugging in real-world environments using wireless diagnostics tooling such as Wireshark
