📋 Description

• Software Engineer (Java, SQL Server) role focused on maintaining and enhancing Java and SQL Server-based platforms, optimizing backend services, and supporting cloud-ready architecture initiatives for federal systems.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining and refactoring Java applications, designing RESTful APIs with Spring Boot, optimizing complex SQL Server stored procedures, conducting code reviews, implementing tests, and supporting cloud migration efforts.
• ICF is a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial consulting company delivering secure, scalable solutions for government clients, with a mission to modernize mission-critical federal systems and improve operational effectiveness.
• Opportunity to deepen expertise in enterprise Java systems, advanced SQL Server performance tuning, cloud migration, and modern development practices while contributing to high-impact government projects and leading initiatives beyond your title.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend focus
• 5+ years of Java development including REST APIs using Spring Framework or Spring Boot
• 5+ years of experience with SQL Server including complex stored procedures, query optimization, and performance tuning
• 2+ years of experience with JPA, Hibernate, or equivalent ORM technologies
• 1+ year of experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Experience with Docker containerization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
• Must reside in and perform work within the United States
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)
