Full Job Description
đ Description
- ⢠Serve as a Software Engineer on the Product Platform Group, focusing on Drataâs monetization platform that transforms product usage, subscriptions, credits, commitments, and contracts into accurate customer outcomes and clean financial operations.
- ⢠Architect and evolve core billing domain systems including usage event ingestion, billable metrics, pricing and packaging, invoice generation, entitlement enforcement, and integrations with Accounting, Finance, RevOps, Salesforce, CPQ, and ERP systems like NetSuite.
- ⢠Partner with Product, Finance, Accounting, RevOps, and Engineering leadership to shape Drataâs long-term billing architecture and commercial flexibility across self-serve and enterprise sales motions.
- ⢠Design and implement primitives of a modern billing platform: usage events, billable metrics, products, rate cards, contracts, credits, subscriptions, overages, and invoice workflows.
- ⢠Build systems that accurately meter product usage at scale, transform raw usage events into billable quantities, and support dynamic pricing changes without requiring constant code rework.
- ⢠Develop and evolve the entitlement layer that decouples pricing and packaging from product behavior, enabling feature access, limits, credits, and plan controls to be programmable rather than hardcoded.
- ⢠Collaborate with SFDC admins, CPQ owners, and Finance systems stakeholders to ensure coherent quote-to-cash flows across CRM, product, billing, ERP, and downstream reporting systems.
- ⢠Ensure billing systems are operationally trustworthy through idempotent event handling, strong reconciliation paths, reliable notifications, auditability, and clear observability for engineers and business teams.
- ⢠Troubleshoot complex production issues including invoice discrepancies, usage drift, contract edge cases, entitlement bugs, migration failures, and cross-system data mismatches.
- ⢠Design and implement APIs and event-driven systems that ingest, validate, aggregate, and reconcile high-volume operational data with precision and scalability.
- ⢠Apply strong product and systems mindset to model the commercial domain cleanly, recognizing that billing architecture is ultimately customer experience architecture.
- ⢠Work within a hybrid model in San Francisco, collaborating in-office Tuesday through Thursday for high-impact team alignment, with flexible Mondays and Fridays for focused work and autonomy.
- ⢠Contribute to a culture of ownership, speed, and customer obsession, where precision, velocity, and continuous growth are prioritized.
đŻ Requirements
- ⢠3+ years of experience as a software engineer, including meaningful time owning business-critical backend systems in production.
- ⢠Experience architecting billing, payments, pricing, or quote-to-cash systems for a B2B SaaS company at meaningful scale.
- ⢠Experience designing APIs and event-driven systems that ingest, validate, aggregate, and reconcile high-volume operational data.
- ⢠Understanding of modern billing models, including usage-based pricing, subscriptions, prepaid credits, commitments, overages, hybrid packaging, and enterprise-specific commercial terms.
- ⢠Experience working directly with Accounting, Finance, RevOps, and GTM systems where data quality, auditability, and timing matter.
- ⢠Experience integrating with systems like Salesforce, CPQ, NetSuite, payment platforms, and downstream finance/reporting tooling.
đď¸ Benefits
- ⢠Stock equity in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) to share in company success.
- ⢠Up to 100% employer-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents, plus comprehensive wellness and healthcare concierge services.
- ⢠401(k) plan, company-paid life and disability insurance, tax-advantaged spending accounts, and discounted voluntary financial offerings.
- ⢠Paid Parental Leave after six months of employment, plus access to Kindbody fertility and family-building benefits and dedicated leave specialists.
- ⢠Generous annual stipends for professional and personal development, with access to internal learning opportunities.
- ⢠Flexible vacation policy, paid holidays, and hybrid work model with in-office collaboration TuesdayâThursday and flexible Mondays and Fridays.
