Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Build and evolve a Python-based web application that serves as the primary interface for scientists (chemists, biologists) to interact with Iambic’s ML-driven drug-discovery platform.
- • Work across the full stack: develop server-rendered UIs using HTMX, design and implement FastAPI route handlers, and integrate with the underlying service layer without embedding business logic in the web layer.
- • Collaborate directly with domain experts in drug discovery to understand user needs, translate scientific requirements into technical features, and improve usability for non-engineers.
- • Design intuitive, legible interfaces that prioritize clarity and safety for users without technical backgrounds, contributing to onboarding materials and in-product guidance.
- • Enforce strict authorization and access scoping on every request to protect sensitive scientific data, ensuring secure handling and clear, safe error states instead of silent failures.
- • Maintain the web application as a thin, secure adapter over a shared service layer, ensuring logic reuse across future entry points such as CLI or API clients.
- • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and documentation efforts to uphold code quality and knowledge sharing across the team.
- • Operate within a modern Python stack using tools like uv and pixi, with infrastructure hosted on AWS (ECS, S3) and managed via infrastructure-as-code and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- • Use agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) as part of daily development workflows to enhance productivity and code accuracy.
- • Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and object storage (S3) to support data-intensive drug-discovery workflows.
- • Contribute to a distributed team environment with strong written communication, ensuring alignment across time zones and functions.
- • Prioritize security fundamentals including authentication, authorization, session handling, and data protection in all aspects of web application development.
- • Ensure all features are built with usability, scalability, and trust as core principles, enabling scientists to confidently interact with complex computational workflows.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong full-stack engineering skills with production Python, including building server-rendered UIs (e.g. HTMX)
- • Experience building and operating production web applications or SaaS-style products
- • Comfort with HTTP API design and well-structured backend services (FastAPI or similar)
- • Experience with relational databases
- • A track record of building usable interfaces for real users and iterating on feedback
- • Comfortable working closely with scientific or domain users on data-intensive problems
🏖️ Benefits
- • Work on a clinical-stage AI-driven drug-discovery platform with real-world impact on patient outcomes
- • Collaborate with world-class AI experts and experienced drug hunters in a mission-driven environment
- • Use modern tooling including agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) in daily development
- • Be part of a diverse, inclusive team committed to innovation in life sciences
- • Based in Iambic’s new Ireland office with opportunities to contribute to a growing international team
- • Engage in a culture that values technical excellence, scientific integrity, and user-centered design
