📋 Description

• • Shape the backbone of AI acceleration: As a Senior Staff Software Infrastructure Engineer at d-Matrix, you will architect and scale the CI/CD, containerization, and build systems that power every line of code our hardware and software teams ship. Your work directly determines how fast we iterate on cutting-edge ML accelerators and how reliably we deliver them to market.
• • Own and evolve GitLab at scale: You will lead the design and maintenance of our GitLab instance, including merge-request workflows, merge trains, and advanced CI pipelines. Expect to reduce build times, harden security gates, and introduce zero-downtime upgrades that keep hundreds of engineers productive.
• • Containerize everything: From development laptops to data-center clusters, you will standardize on Docker and Podman, crafting golden images, multi-stage builds, and secure registries. You will also integrate container scanning and SBOM generation to satisfy enterprise-grade compliance requirements.
• • Orchestrate ML workloads on Kubernetes: You will extend our K8s platform to schedule GPU/CPU jobs, manage resource quotas, and provide self-service namespaces for ML training and inference. Your automation will shrink the time from code commit to silicon validation from days to minutes.
• • Drive Bazel adoption and build excellence: Champion the migration from legacy Make/CMake to Bazel, introducing remote caching, distributed builds, and deterministic hermetic environments. You will expose build metrics (cache hit ratio, build time P95) on Grafana dashboards that guide data-driven optimizations.
• • Instrument DevOps observability: Implement code-coverage gates, linting, bisect tooling, and vulnerability scanning across C/C++, Python, and CUDA codebases. You will integrate these signals into a unified scorecard that surfaces quality trends to leadership and prevents regressions before they reach mainline.
• • Root-cause and automate: When nightly pipelines fail, you are the first responder—leveraging distributed tracing, log aggregation, and artifact forensics to pinpoint the culprit. You will then codify the fix in Terraform or Ansible so the issue never recurs.
• • Collaborate across hardware & software boundaries: Work side-by-side with silicon architects, ML researchers, and firmware engineers to understand their unique build, test, and deployment needs. Translate those needs into reusable infrastructure libraries and golden templates.
• • Mentor and multiply: As a senior technical leader, you will pair-program with junior engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and author internal runbooks that raise the bar for operational excellence across the company.
• • Stay ahead of the curve: Continuously scan the open-source landscape for emerging tools—whether it’s Sigstore for supply-chain security or BuildKit for faster image builds—and run proof-of-concepts that keep d-Matrix on the leading edge.
