- • The Software Maintenance Engineer (Technical Support, OpenShift and OpenStack, Mandarin) role at Red Hat’s Enhanced Solution Support (ESS) team is critical to ensuring enterprise customers receive expert technical assistance for hybrid cloud solutions, particularly Red Hat OpenShift Platform. This role bridges customer support and engineering, directly impacting product reliability and customer satisfaction in mission-critical environments.
- • Day to day, the engineer will provide technical support via web portal and phone to enterprise customers, diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues, collaborate with development teams and strategic cloud partners to resolve multi-vendor problems, assist junior team members, contribute to product planning feedback, maintain SLAs, develop and submit minor bug fixes to upstream communities, and deliver hotfix packages for high-impact customer issues.
- • The ESS team operates within Red Hat’s global support organization, working closely with engineering, product management, and open source communities to deliver premium support for hybrid cloud technologies. The team values technical depth, customer advocacy, and continuous learning in a collaborative, inclusive environment.
- • In this role, the engineer will deepen expertise in OpenShift/Kubernetes, Linux systems, and cloud-native technologies while contributing to open source projects, improving customer outcomes, influencing product development, and growing as a trusted technical advisor and mentor within a world-class open source enterprise.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a technical field (engineering, computer science) or equivalent industry experience
- • 5+ years of Unix/Linux system administration experience with strong networking knowledge
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin
- • Proven experience with virtualization technologies, preferably OpenShift/Kubernetes
- • Python and Go programming experience with upstream open source contributions
- • Outstanding debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
