- • This PRN Speech Language Pathologist role at Avera Health provides essential speech therapy services to patients across multiple settings, helping cover staffing needs due to PTO, leaves, or high census, with a focus on improving patient communication, cognition, and swallowing function.
- • Day to day, the SLP will evaluate patients using formal and informal assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, deliver direct therapy, document progress, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.

- • In this role, the SLP will deepen clinical expertise in geriatric and adult populations, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration skills, and contribute to program development and student mentorship while upholding Avera’s CARE standards (Communication, Attitude, Responsiveness, Engagement).
🎯 Requirements
- • Active state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist or CCC-SLP certification from ASHA (or active in supervised clinical fellowship year with certification within one year of hire)
- • Ability to work PRN (as needed) shifts across 5 locations in Yankton, SD and surrounding areas
- • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, treat, and document speech, language, cognition, voice, and dysphagia disorders across the lifespan (infant to geriatric)
- • 1-3 years of experience in SNF, hospital, outpatient, or home health settings (preferred)
- • Commitment to Avera’s mission, vision, core values, and CARE standards, including confidentiality, teamwork, and compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA regulations
