  • • Quantinuum is at the vanguard of the quantum computing revolution, and we are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Sr. Advanced Semiconductor Packaging Engineer to join our pioneering team. This critical role will be instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge packaging solutions for the highly scaled ion traps that form the core of our next-generation quantum computers, specifically our Apollo and Lumos systems. As a mid-career engineer with a robust background in advanced packaging concepts, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of ASIC designers, ion trap specialists, optical engineers, and third-party vendors. Your expertise will be crucial in the prototyping, design, and fabrication of sophisticated ion trap assemblies, directly contributing to the advancement of our quantum computing hardware.
  • • This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging technical environment. At Quantinuum, we foster a team-based culture where individual talent and initiative are recognized and rewarded. You will be at the forefront of developing innovative and reliable packaging schemes, tackling complex challenges related to the integration of multiple chip types, including ion trap chips, electrical chips, and optical chips. Your work will involve the meticulous development and implementation of advanced packaging concepts that address critical mechanical, thermal, electrical, optical, and detection interfaces for state-of-the-art ion traps.
  • • A significant aspect of this role will involve architecting and executing packaging strategies and processes tailored for large-format ion trap chips. These chips are characterized by their high I/O signal count and density, demanding sophisticated packaging approaches to ensure optimal performance and reliability. You will play a key role in working with external vendors to implement and validate these intricate packaging processes, ensuring that they meet Quantinuum's rigorous quality and performance standards. Your responsibilities will span all stages of ion trap development, ensuring seamless compatibility between the packaging designs and the overall system requirements.
  • • Furthermore, you will serve as a vital liaison, interfacing with the broader Quantinuum team to guarantee that the ion trap packaging aligns perfectly with system-level objectives. This cross-functional collaboration is essential for the successful integration of our quantum computing components. You will also be actively engaged with third-party partners, cultivating key relationships, fostering supplier collaborations, and driving co-development opportunities that will accelerate our technological advancements. Your ability to navigate and leverage external expertise will be a significant asset.
  • • The Sr. Advanced Semiconductor Packaging Engineer will be responsible for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in semiconductor packaging for quantum applications. This includes exploring novel materials, advanced interconnect technologies, and innovative assembly techniques to achieve unprecedented levels of integration and performance. You will contribute to the design for manufacturability and testability of these complex assemblies, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.
  • • This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes, and a keen eye for detail. You will be expected to identify potential challenges early in the design cycle and develop robust solutions. Your contributions will directly impact the performance, stability, and scalability of Quantinuum's quantum computers, positioning the company for continued leadership in the quantum computing industry.
  • • We are looking for an individual who is passionate about quantum technology and eager to make a tangible impact. If you thrive in a collaborative, innovative, and technically demanding environment, and possess the expertise to tackle complex packaging challenges, we encourage you to apply and help us shape the future of quantum computing.
