📋 Description

• Lead the architectural vision, strategy, and execution for F5 Distributed Cloud’s global SaaS platform, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and agility across all technical domains.
• Set long-term architectural direction by guiding major technology choices and innovation areas in CDN, edge computing, routing, load balancing, DDoS mitigation, and application-layer security (WAAP, WAF).
• Influence and shape technical strategy across networking, service discovery, workload orchestration, configuration management, and telemetry systems.
• Oversee architectural governance to ensure design consistency, risk management, and scalability across cross-functional teams and services.
• Establish and enforce architectural guardrails and principles for service isolation, zero trust, multi-region resilience, performance optimization, and developer velocity.
• Drive cross-functional alignment among product, security, infrastructure, SRE, and development teams to deliver coherent, secure, and customer-driven architectures.
• Collaborate with product and development teams to define scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant system designs aligned with platform objectives.
• Mentor senior architects and technical leads to grow architecture talent and foster technical leadership across the organization.
• Represent Distributed Cloud architecture and capabilities to executive stakeholders, customers, and external technical forums.
• Ensure all systems are designed with operability, testability, compliance, and security as first principles.
• Conduct architectural reviews, design validations, and threat modeling to proactively address operational, security, and scalability concerns.
• Partner with management to align technical roadmaps with product timelines and business goals.
• Lead technical due diligence, competitive assessments, and horizon scanning for emerging technologies and architectural paradigms.
• Lead software development projects from concept through delivery, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
• Ensure comprehensive documentation and recording of all Distributed Cloud systems, components, and design decisions.
• Plan, track, and schedule software deliverables to meet organizational objectives.
• Enable teams to identify, analyze, and drive resolution of systemic issues within software platforms.
• Develop strong working relationships with employees and senior leadership to support organizational cohesion and technical alignment.

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years in architecture leadership roles, with 5+ years as a Chief Architect or Principal Architect for a global SaaS or cloud platform
• Proven experience designing and operating multi-tenant, multi-region, highly available SaaS services at global scale
• Deep technical expertise in CDN, edge computing, routing, load balancing, DDoS mitigation, and application-layer security
• Understanding of containers and orchestration technologies
• Broad understanding of coding and programming languages
• Extensive knowledge of software development processes, design patterns, and agile methodologies

🏖️ Benefits

• Annual base pay range of $268,800.00 – $403,200.00
• Eligibility for incentive compensation, bonus, and restricted stock units

• Remote work eligibility for candidates not located in Seattle or San Jose areas
