📋 Description

• As a Sr. Cash Management Specialist at Valon VM Inc., you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and efficient management of cash-related activities within Valon’s mortgage servicing operations, directly supporting the company’s mission to empower homeowners through transparent, secure, and financially empowering mortgage experiences by maintaining compliance, optimizing cash flows, and driving process improvements critical to scaling a $130B+ loan portfolio.
• You will oversee end-to-end cash management processes including cash posting, bank account reconciliation, and exception handling; lead resolution of escalated issues such as discrepancies, customer disputes, and complex transaction errors; develop and refine workflows to ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with investor and regulatory requirements; serve as a subject matter expert on cash management policies, providing guidance and training to junior team members; proactively identify areas for process improvement and lead implementation of new tools or methodologies; maintain expertise in investor guidelines including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae; assist in audits and regulatory reporting with thorough documentation; conduct in-depth research on missing payments and ensure accurate resolution; manage remote deposit processes for physical checks, initiate stop payments, manage whitelisting, and administer positive pay controls; complete homeowner-requested payment recast processes by recalculating loan terms and updating documentation; and collaborate with Investor Reporting, Payment Processing, and Accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate financial operations.
• You will join Valon’s Loan Administration team, which powers all operations required to keep the company running smoothly—from onboarding loans to handling insurance and processing payments—ensuring homeowners receive a first-class experience from behind the scenes; this team operates within a fast-scaling, technology-first organization backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) that has built its platforms from the ground up on modern, AI-native systems to lead in automation, compliance, and continuous improvement across servicing and lending businesses.
• In this role, you will develop deep expertise in mortgage servicing cash operations, regulatory compliance, and financial systems while mentoring junior specialists and leading process optimization initiatives; you will gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration with Investor Reporting, Accounting, and Payment Processing teams, enhance your leadership and analytical capabilities, and contribute directly to Valon’s growth and scalability in regulated finance, positioning yourself for advancement in financial operations, mortgage servicing, or compliance leadership within a high-impact, innovative fintech environment.

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive experience in cash management, mortgage servicing, or financial operations with a proven track record of managing complex processes
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage escalated issues and deliver resolutions promptly
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, with experience in training and supporting team members
• Expertise in regulatory and investor compliance, including familiarity with agency guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae) and industry best practices
• Proficient in leveraging financial and operational systems (e.g., Black Knight, MSP) to streamline processes
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
