📋 Description

• • Own and evolve Milwaukee Tool’s next-generation cloud data platform. You will serve as the subject-matter expert for Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Data Factory (ADF), ensuring that every byte of data powering our disruptive product innovations is secure, performant, and cost-efficient.
• • Architect and codify the future. Using Terraform and GitHub Actions, you will build infrastructure-as-code blueprints that provision Databricks workspaces, Unity Catalog metastores, ADLS containers, and ADF pipelines in minutes rather than days. Your modules will become the golden standard that other teams fork and extend.
• • Guard the gates. Implement end-to-end security controls—service principals, secrets in Azure Key Vault, role-based access control, row-level and column-level security—so that data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders can self-serve without ever compromising compliance or privacy.
• • Make the invisible visible. Design and maintain observability dashboards (Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, Databricks SQL) that surface platform health, usage patterns, and spend anomalies. When an incident strikes, your runbooks and automated remediation scripts will cut mean-time-to-recovery from hours to minutes.
• • Optimize relentlessly. Profile Spark jobs, tune autoscaling policies, and re-partition data layouts to cut compute costs while slashing query latency. Present quarterly cost-optimization reviews to leadership, complete with ROI projections and implementation roadmaps.
• • Be the catalyst for experimentation. Run proof-of-concept projects on emerging technologies—Delta Live Tables, serverless SQL warehouses, Microsoft Fabric mirroring, or even hybrid multi-cloud patterns—and translate findings into pragmatic adoption plans that keep Milwaukee Tool two steps ahead of the competition.
• • Empower data product teams. Partner with data engineers and analytics squads to translate raw requirements into scalable platform capabilities. Whether they need a streaming ingestion layer for IoT tool telemetry or a governed feature store for ML models, you will deliver the building blocks they can’t live without.
• • Champion DevOps culture. Establish CI/CD pipelines that enforce code quality gates, automated testing, and blue-green deployments for notebooks, libraries, and infrastructure. Mentor junior engineers on branching strategies, pull-request etiquette, and test-driven development.
• • Document tribal knowledge. Turn hard-won troubleshooting sessions into concise KB articles, architectural decision records (ADRs), and lunch-and-learn slide decks that level-up the entire organization.
• • Stay curious. Block time every sprint to read release notes, attend virtual conferences, and contribute to open-source projects. Bring back one actionable insight per month and socialize it through lightning talks or internal blog posts.
