- • The Sr. Collections Specialist serves as a highly skilled Single Point of Contact (SPOC) within Loss Mitigation, acting as the primary liaison for borrowers navigating delinquency resolution and home retention or liquidation options. This role is critical to First American Financial Corporation’s mission of supporting customers through financial hardship while ensuring compliance with investor, regulatory, and company requirements, directly contributing to portfolio stability and customer trust.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include serving as the primary point of contact for customers regarding loss mitigation and collections-related inquiries; performing outbound and inbound collection calls to resolve delinquent accounts; analyzing borrower financials to determine eligibility for retention options (such as forbearances and modifications) or liquidation options (such as short sales and deeds in lieu); maintaining accurate and detailed records of all customer interactions and account activity; providing exceptional customer service by addressing and resolving complex account issues, discrepancies, and disputes; and reviewing accounts to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

- • In this role, you will develop advanced expertise in mortgage servicing, loss mitigation, and regulatory compliance while honing negotiation, conflict resolution, and financial analysis skills. You will gain exposure to complex investor guidelines (FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC), federal and state debt collection laws, and bankruptcy procedures, positioning yourself as a trusted subject matter expert within a nationally respected financial services organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
- • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in collections, loss mitigation, or mortgage servicing
- • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong negotiation, active listening, and conflict resolution abilities
- • Strong knowledge of investor guidelines (FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC) and state/federal Fair Debt Collections Laws, US Bankruptcy Code, and bankruptcy procedures
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to analyze and interpret complex financial documents to make sound decisions
- • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities and maintaining strong attention to detail
