- • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms that enable AI applications to securely access trusted enterprise data at scale.
- • Partner with analytics, marketing, and product teams to understand data needs and translate business requirements into technical solutions for AI-driven decision-making.
- • Define and implement data governance, security, and access control standards to ensure compliance and reliability of sensitive data used in AI systems.
- • Independently drive end-to-end projects from initial design through production deployment and ongoing operational support.
- • Develop and maintain data models that support AI applications, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and performance across internal systems.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish engineering standards and best practices for data infrastructure supporting large language models (LLMs).
- • Implement and manage cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Spark, Kafka, or Iceberg to enable secure, high-performance data access.
- • Apply infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform to automate and standardize data platform provisioning and configuration.
- • Ensure all data systems comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements for handling sensitive health information.
- • Enable LLMs to securely reason over enterprise data by designing data architectures that support context-aware, compliant model interactions.
- • Mentor and influence technical direction for other engineers, promoting high-quality, maintainable, and scalable data solutions.
- • Support company-wide AI initiatives by providing reliable, governed, and accessible data infrastructure that powers operational efficiency and insights.
- • Maintain awareness of evolving AI and data engineering trends to continuously improve Rula’s data platform capabilities.
- • Contribute to a remote-first culture by actively participating in distributed team collaboration, asynchronous communication, and inclusive engineering practices.
- • Ensure all data systems are designed with privacy and security as foundational principles, aligning with Rula’s mission to protect user mental health data.
- • Participate in quarterly department stipends for team-building activities and in-person gatherings to strengthen cross-functional relationships.
- • Utilize the monthly $50 wellness stipend and home office stipend to maintain a productive, healthy remote work environment.
- • Engage with employee resource groups that celebrate diversity and foster belonging across the organization.

🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related field, including ownership of production data pipelines and systems.
- • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- • Experience designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data models, and data platforms.
- • Experience implementing data security, governance, or access control practices for sensitive data.
- • Experience independently driving projects from design through production deployment and operational support.
- • Experience translating business requirements into technical designs and delivering solutions in partnership with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
