Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the revenue and profit growth for Velcro USA Inc.’s Transportation Segment across Southeast Michigan and beyond. You will quarterback complex, multi-year technical sales campaigns that convert Velcro® fasteners and adhesive tape solutions into specified components on next-generation vehicles.
- • Build and nurture C-suite, engineering, and program-management relationships inside Tier 1 automotive suppliers and global OEMs. Your credibility will come from deep technical fluency—able to translate Velcro’s fastening science into quantifiable benefits such as weight reduction, NVH improvement, assembly-time savings, and cost avoidance.
- • Architect and execute a strategic account plan that maps every vehicle program on the five-year horizon, identifies design-in opportunities, and sequences the technical milestones required to secure a specification. You will forecast revenue, track margin, and report progress through Salesforce and executive QBR decks.
- • Lead cross-functional pursuit teams that include application engineers, materials scientists, program managers, and plant quality leaders. You will chair gated design reviews, drive APQP deliverables, and ensure flawless launches from concept through PPAP and SOP.
- • Translate customer performance targets into detailed Bills of Materials, cost models, and value-proposition narratives. You will negotiate piece-price, tooling, and logistics agreements that protect margin while accelerating adoption.
- • Shepherd prototype builds, lab validation, and on-vehicle testing. When issues arise, you will mobilize Velcro’s global technical resources to deliver corrective actions on aggressive automotive timelines.
- • Expand Velcro’s footprint beyond traditional cockpit and seating applications into high-growth arenas such as battery enclosures, ADAS sensor mounts, wire-harness routing, and lightweight exterior trim. You will create white-space opportunity maps and champion new product development roadmaps.
- • Deliver quarterly business reviews that showcase engineering innovations, cost-down achievements, and sustainability advances—positioning Velcro as a strategic partner rather than a commodity supplier.
- • Mentor junior account managers and application engineers, transferring best practices in value-based selling, automotive program management, and customer influence strategies.
- • Travel up to 20 % across North America to customer tech centers, assembly plants, and trade events, ensuring Velcro’s technical leadership is visible and trusted.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering degree strongly preferred
- • 10+ years of strategic account management, technical sales, or application engineering experience within the North American automotive market
- • Demonstrated success specifying components with Tier 1 suppliers or OEMs in vehicle seating, electrical distribution, or related systems
- • Deep knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and automotive program launch cycles
- • Proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce CRM; ability to craft data-driven value propositions and executive-level presentations
🏖️ Benefits
- • 401(k) with immediate vesting and a generous 5.5 % company match
- • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and prescription coverage plus HSA/HRA options
- • Paid vacation, sick time, 13 company holidays, and paid parental leave
- • Tuition reimbursement, employee recognition programs, and charitable gift matching
