đź“‹ Description
- • Design complex, data-rich interfaces for an open-source observability platform used by developers and SREs to monitor, debug, and optimize applications through metrics, traces, and logs.
- • Collaborate directly with Product Managers and Engineers to shape end-to-end product experiences across onboarding, instrumentation, troubleshooting, debugging, runtime analysis, and performance investigation workflows.
- • Translate intricate technical concepts into intuitive, user-friendly UX without oversimplifying the needs of technical users.
- • Create and refine component-based design patterns and contribute to or evolve established design systems while remaining open to innovative approaches.
- • Drive product thinking from early discovery through to production-ready delivery, ensuring usability, scalability, and technical depth are balanced in every design decision.
- • Engage directly with customers to ground design decisions in real-world workflows, pain points, and usage patterns observed in the 7,000+ member Slack community and 800+ active customers.
- • Leverage AI-assisted prototyping and workflow tools to rapidly explore ideas, validate concepts, and accelerate iteration cycles across the design process.
- • Maintain exceptional craft standards, elevating the visual and interactive quality of core UI elements—even those considered routine or high-volume—without compromising functionality.
- • Operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where product direction is shaped through systems thinking, product judgment, and deep understanding of developer tooling.
- • Design for technical depth by thoughtfully addressing edge cases, information architecture, and scalability concerns inherent in infrastructure and observability platforms.
- • Contribute to the evolution of a globally used open-source project with 27,000+ GitHub stars, where your work directly influences how engineering teams adopt and rely on the platform.
- • Work within a remote-first, async-friendly culture that prioritizes autonomy, high-caliber collaboration, and continuous shipping of impactful product features.
- • Help define the future of open-source observability by shaping the UX of a platform built natively on OpenTelemetry with both self-hosted and cloud deployment options.

- • 4-10 years of experience in digital product design
- • Portfolio demonstrating a strong track record of designing and shipping complex technical products and systems-oriented workflows
- • Experience designing for developer platforms, observability tools, infrastructure products, or other highly technical domains
- • Experience designing data-rich interfaces and translating complex technical topics into clear UX
- • Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and influence product direction through systems thinking and product judgment
- • Proficiency in creating component-based design patterns and working with established design systems
