- • Senior Software Engineer role at Metriport Inc., an open-source data intelligence platform enabling real-time patient data access and exchange for healthcare organizations, serving 300+ million individuals with multi-million ARR and 100+ customers.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include driving end-to-end projects from ideation to production—writing design docs, building MVPs, iterating with customer feedback, scaling services, managing infra costs, building OpenSearch clusters, transforming legacy hospital protocols to modern webhooks, using LLMs to extract medical data from doctor notes, reviewing PRs, managing work in Linear, participating in sprint planning and retrospectives, attending daily 30-minute remote stand-ups, and rotating on-call duties to resolve alerts and improve developer experience.
- • Metriport is a tight-knit, high-performing engineering-heavy team of mostly former founders (including YC alumni), operating with minimal bureaucracy, high autonomy, and a culture that values competence over prestige, sustainable intensity, and measurable output, with founders working six days a week while offering schedule flexibility.
- • The role offers the opportunity to solve complex, impactful problems at scale, lead technical initiatives, gain deep expertise in healthcare data systems, influence platform architecture, and grow as a generalist engineer in a fast-scaling, VC-backed startup with significant runway and real-world customer impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer with a strong back-end focus
- • Experience developing and maintaining cloud-based platforms, including scaling, infrastructure as code, and monitoring
- • Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco or the Bay Area (or relocate)
