Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and deliver rock-solid, cloud-native services in Elixir that power point-of-sale, loyalty, digital ordering and back-office products for 100,000+ convenience-store and restaurant locations worldwide.
- • Own the full life-cycle of new features—from white-boarding resilient domain models, writing idiomatic Elixir/OTP code, peer-reviewing pull requests, to shepherding releases through GitHub Actions → EKS → production—ensuring every commit meets the “five-nines” uptime our global customers expect.
- • Model complex convenience-store workflows (fuel pricing, age-restricted sales, kitchen display, loyalty redemptions) in PostgreSQL using normalized schemas, JSONB columns, GIN indexes and advanced partitioning so that multi-terabyte datasets remain snappy at millisecond latency.
- • Design horizontally-scalable AWS topologies: containerized Phoenix apps on EKS, Aurora PostgreSQL clusters with automated failover, S3-backed media pipelines, and event-driven integrations via SNS/SQS—all codified in Terraform and continuously deployed through Argo CD.
- • Champion Test-Driven and Behavior-Driven Development: write ExUnit, StreamData and Wallaby tests that cover happy paths, failure modes and property-based edge cases; enforce 90 %+ coverage gates in CI so refactors are fearless.
- • Collaborate daily with product managers, UX designers, QA analysts and hardware engineers in two-week Scrum sprints: refine stories, demo increments, and iterate based on real telemetry and customer feedback from stores on four continents.
- • Instrument everything—traces, metrics, logs—using AppSignal or Datadog; set SLOs, error budgets and actionable alerts so the on-call rotation is quiet and incidents are resolved before a store loses a single transaction.
- • Contribute to architectural guilds and RFCs that influence the next generation of PAR’s Unified Customer Experience platform, balancing cutting-edge Elixir/OTP patterns with pragmatic, business-driven trade-offs.
- • Mentor junior engineers through pair-programming, lunch-and-learns and code-clinic hours; foster a culture where knowledge sharing is as important as shipping features.
- • Continuously improve: run blameless post-mortems, automate toil away, and experiment with emerging BEAM technologies (Nx, LiveView, Broadway) that keep PAR two steps ahead in the restaurant-tech race.
