📋 Description

• • Own the long-term AI/ML technical vision for GEICO, translating corporate strategy into a multi-year roadmap that spans pricing, claims, fraud, customer experience, and underwriting. You will set architectural standards, select technologies, and define governance guardrails that ensure every model is scalable, secure, compliant, and cost-effective.
• • Lead the discovery and framing of high-impact AI opportunities by embedding with Product, Engineering, Data, Legal, and business executives. You will convert ambiguous business pain points into crisp ML problem statements, quantify ROI, and secure funding for portfolio-level initiatives.
• • Architect end-to-end AI systems that ingest petabyte-scale data, perform real-time and batch feature engineering, train cutting-edge models (deep learning, LLMs, reinforcement learning, causal models), and deploy them to cloud and on-prem environments with rigorous monitoring, drift detection, and rollback capabilities.
• • Drive the full model lifecycle—from rapid prototyping and offline experimentation to staged A/B and causal impact studies, champion/challenger deployments, and continuous retraining—while maintaining reproducibility, version control, and documentation that satisfy both regulators and peer reviewers.
• • Establish KPI frameworks and experimentation platforms that allow every AI investment to be measured in dollars saved, revenue gained, or customer NPS improved. You will institutionalize counterfactual modeling, uplift modeling, and synthetic control techniques to isolate true model impact.
• • Stay ahead of the research curve by surveying academic conferences, patent filings, and open-source releases; rapidly prototype promising techniques (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation, diffusion models, multi-agent RL) and harden them for production within GEICO’s regulated insurance ecosystem.
• • Serve as the primary technical partner to senior executives, translating complex model behavior into business language, presenting trade-offs, and securing buy-in for strategic bets. You will author white-papers, speak at internal tech summits, and represent GEICO at external conferences.
• • Mentor and scale a world-class research organization: coach PhD researchers on advanced modeling, pair with senior engineers on MLOps, and run internal guilds on causal inference, LLM safety, and responsible AI. You will define code-quality bars, peer-review standards, and career ladders that propagate excellence across teams.
• • Champion responsible AI and model governance by designing bias audits, fairness constraints, explainability layers, and red-team exercises that satisfy state insurance commissioners and GEICO’s risk committee. You will create playbooks that turn regulatory requirements into automated CI/CD checks.
• • Influence beyond your immediate scope by contributing to GEICO’s enterprise data strategy, cloud migration plans, and talent acquisition branding. You will sit on architecture review boards, approve vendor selections, and ensure every AI capability aligns with the company’s security, privacy, and ethical guidelines.
