Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the complete website lifecycle—from first whiteboard sketch to post-launch optimization—at Served With Honor, a mission-driven company dedicated to elevating the Veteran Community through world-class digital experiences.
  • • Translate loosely defined product and marketing ideas into secure, scalable, and lightning-fast web properties that serve thousands of veterans and their families every day.
  • • Architect and build full websites from scratch, including responsive front-end layouts, robust back-end logic, and optimized database structures, ensuring every page meets WCAG 2.1 accessibility and cross-browser standards.
  • • Partner daily with designers, SEO strategists, and marketing stakeholders to convert Figma mock-ups into pixel-perfect WordPress themes or custom .NET/React applications, while injecting your own UI/UX expertise to elevate the final product.
  • • Implement and maintain on-site SEO fundamentals—meta data, schema markup, Core Web Vitals, and page-speed optimizations—so that every launch immediately begins climbing SERPs and reaching the veterans who need us most.
  • • Establish and manage rock-solid release pipelines using Git-based version control, automated CI/CD workflows, and zero-downtime deployment strategies that keep our sites stable and secure 24/7.
  • • Conduct rigorous quality-assurance testing across devices, browsers, and assistive technologies; document bugs, performance bottlenecks, and security gaps; then remediate before any code reaches staging or production.
  • • Harden sites against emerging threats by applying OWASP best practices, routine patching, vulnerability scanning, and real-time monitoring—protecting sensitive veteran data and maintaining unshakeable trust.
  • • Monitor site health through Google Analytics, Search Console, New Relic, and uptime dashboards; proactively troubleshoot outages, 404 spikes, or Core Web Vital regressions before users (or Google) notice.
  • • Optimize back-end performance by crafting efficient SQL queries, leveraging object caching (Redis/Memcached), and fine-tuning server configurations—cutting page load times by 30 %+ in your first quarter.
  • • Collaborate with leadership to scope new features, estimate effort, and craft technical roadmaps that align engineering capacity with ambitious quarterly OKRs and the broader mission of honoring veterans.
  • • Mentor junior developers through code reviews, lunch-and-learn sessions, and pair programming—raising the bar for clean, well-documented, and test-covered code across the entire technology team.
  • • Champion continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies (headless WordPress, Next.js, serverless functions) and proposing pragmatic adoption strategies that future-proof our stack.
  • • Serve as the go-to technical voice in cross-functional meetings, translating complex engineering trade-offs into clear, jargon-free recommendations that empower marketing, design, and executive stakeholders to make confident decisions.
  • • Celebrate wins—whether a 100/100 Lighthouse score, a successful Veteran’s Day campaign launch, or a heartfelt thank-you email from a client—because at Served With Honor, every line of code directly impacts those who served.
