Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the design, development, and deployment of next-generation AI/ML systems that power Komodo Health’s real-world evidence platform, serving life-science companies, payers, and providers with actionable insights drawn from the largest de-identified healthcare dataset in the United States.
  • • Architect scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and enrich billions of clinical, claims, lab, and genomics records, ensuring sub-second query performance and HIPAA-grade security across a multi-tenant cloud environment.
  • • Drive the full ML lifecycle—from ideation and experimentation to model governance and production monitoring—using state-of-the-art techniques in deep learning, NLP, and probabilistic modeling to solve high-impact problems such as disease progression prediction, treatment pathway optimization, and patient outcome forecasting.
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, epidemiologists, data scientists, and clinical informaticists to translate complex business questions into rigorous technical requirements, then deliver production-ready solutions that materially improve patient care and reduce healthcare costs.
  • • Champion engineering excellence by establishing best practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and MLOps; mentor senior and junior engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions that raise the technical bar across the organization.
  • • Own the technical roadmap for AI infrastructure, evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., vector databases, LLM orchestration frameworks, GPU scheduling platforms) and making build-vs-buy decisions that balance innovation velocity with long-term maintainability.
  • • Serve as a key spokesperson for Komodo’s AI capabilities, presenting at internal tech talks, external conferences, and customer briefings to showcase how advanced analytics unlock new frontiers in real-world evidence generation.
  • • Influence company-level strategy by providing data-driven recommendations on product prioritization, partnership opportunities, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that AI initiatives align with Komodo’s mission to reduce the global burden of disease.
  • • Implement robust privacy-preserving techniques—such as federated learning, differential privacy, and synthetic data generation—to enable secure collaboration across healthcare stakeholders while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA, GDPR, and emerging state privacy laws.
  • • Continuously monitor model performance and data drift in production, establishing automated alerting and rollback mechanisms that guarantee 99.9% uptime for mission-critical AI services used in patient-level interventions and population health management.
  • • Contribute to open-source communities and publish peer-reviewed papers that advance the field of healthcare AI, reinforcing Komodo’s reputation as a thought leader and attracting top-tier talent to the engineering organization.
  • • Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe team culture where diverse perspectives are celebrated, experimentation is encouraged, and every engineer feels empowered to propose bold ideas that could reshape the future of healthcare.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 8+ years of production-grade software engineering experience with at least 3 years architecting and deploying large-scale AI/ML systems in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • • Expert-level proficiency in Python and at least one systems language (Go, Rust, or Java) with demonstrated ability to write clean, efficient, and well-tested code for distributed data processing and model serving.
  • • Deep understanding of modern ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX) and MLOps tooling (Kubeflow, MLflow, TFX) including containerization, orchestration, feature stores, and real-time model monitoring.
  • • Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives that deliver measurable business impact, preferably in healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated industries handling sensitive data.
  • • Nice-to-have: PhD or MS in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, or related quantitative field with publications in top-tier ML or healthcare venues.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for you and eligible dependents with 100% employer-paid premiums on select plans.
  • • Flexible time off and 11+ company holidays per year, plus a quarterly “Recharge Week” where the entire company powers down to prevent burnout.
  • • 401(k) retirement plan with immediate 4% company match and access to financial-planning advisors.
  • • Equity awards (RSUs) with four-year vesting and early-exercise options, giving you meaningful ownership in Komodo’s continued growth.
  • • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents, plus gradual return-to-work flexibility and childcare stipends.
