- • Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and long-term roadmap for Kueski’s data platform, aligning with company objectives and scaling to support Mexico’s top e-commerce merchants.
- • Design and deliver large-scale, complex data initiatives spanning batch and streaming systems, from ambiguous problem definition through stable production deployment.
- • Architect robust, scalable data systems that enable AI-centric workflows, including implementation of AI-adjacent infrastructure such as MCP Server and RAG.
- • Establish and champion data engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices across the team and department to ensure technical excellence and platform reliability.
- • Develop and own CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for automated, reliable data platform operations.
- • Drive data quality, observability, and governance programs across the entire data platform to ensure trusted, self-service data consumption.
- • Apply advanced data cleansing techniques to improve data usability and quality for downstream analytics and machine learning teams.
- • Design and implement modern data architectures including medallion layer, data lakehouses, and data product patterns.
- • Leverage deep expertise in Apache Spark to optimize distributed data processing workflows and performance at scale.
- • Partner cross-functionally with Data Science, Machine Learning, Analytics, Platform, and Product teams to deliver end-to-end data-driven solutions.
- • Represent Data Engineering in cross-organizational initiatives and lead efforts beyond core team responsibilities.
- • Mentor and coach Data Engineers at all levels through code reviews, pairing sessions, and technical guidance to elevate team quality and capability.
- • Identify limitations in existing tools or processes and lead the design and build of new capabilities when current solutions are insufficient.
- • Maintain strong command of Python and SQL; leverage Scala/Java as needed for performance-critical components.
- • Utilize cloud data platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud, with hands-on experience in Databricks for large-scale data processing.
- • Apply data modeling practices including star schemas and dimensional modeling to support analytical and reporting needs.
- • Uphold software design patterns, SDLC best practices, and non-functional requirements (scalability, latency, fault tolerance) in all data system designs.
- • Contribute to Kueski’s culture of innovation, collaboration, and ethical business practices as a technical leader in a diverse and inclusive workplace.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep expertise in data engineering at scale, including architecture design, performance optimization, and production operations
- • Proven leadership in delivering large-scale, complex data platform initiatives from ambiguous scoping through stable production
- • Expert-level programming in Python and strong SQL fundamentals; experience with Scala/Java is a plus
- • Extensive experience designing and building production-grade batch and near-real-time data pipelines using Apache Spark
- • Proven experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for data workloads
- • Experience with AI-enabled tools and AI-adjacent infrastructure such as MCP Server and RAG
