- • As a Staff Data Engineer at Ridealso Inc., you will own the telemetry data platform for vehicle-generated data, ensuring reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient ingestion, processing, and delivery of high-volume, high-velocity telemetry to analytics, ML, and visualization systems.
- • Day to day, you will design and operate large-scale ingestion pipelines, architect end-to-end ETL/ELT systems, define schema evolution strategies, build backfill and replay mechanisms, develop fault-tolerant pipelines with strong SLAs, implement backend services and APIs, apply software engineering best practices, establish data quality and observability frameworks, and provide technical leadership through mentoring and influencing engineering roadmaps.
- • You will join a passionate team of builders and innovators at ALSO, an electric mobility company spun out of Rivian, focused on creating vertically integrated, small EVs that are 10-50x more efficient than traditional vehicles to address global mobility challenges.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in large-scale telemetry systems, cloud-native data platforms, streaming architectures, and distributed systems while shaping the foundation of ALSO’s data infrastructure and influencing product and engineering strategy at a senior level.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of experience in data engineering and/or backend platform engineering operating production systems at scale
- • Deep hands-on experience with large-scale telemetry or IoT data, including high-throughput and low-latency ingestion
- • Strong expertise in AWS data and infrastructure services (S3, Kinesis/MSK, Glue, EMR, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge)
- • Proven experience owning end-to-end ETL/ELT infrastructure using Spark/PySpark (batch and streaming) on Databricks or EMR
- • Solid understanding of streaming architectures using Kafka or equivalent systems and time-series–optimized storage patterns
- • Strong backend engineering skills using Python and/or Java/Scala, including API design (REST/gRPC) and distributed systems fundamentals
